Bolster brackets are typically mounted upright on a boat trailer's crossmembers. When used with a swivel bracket (sold separately), they allow a mounted bunk board, which is run from the front of the trailer to the back, to pivot while you are loading a boat. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer.

Galvanized Steel

Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

Video Transcript for CE Smith Bolster Bracket: The Breakdown

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at the CE Smith Galvanized Steel Bolster Bracket. Now, bolster brackets are typically mounted upright on a boat's trailer's crossmembers, and when used with the swivel bracket, they allow a mounted bunk board, which is run from the front of the trailer to the back to pivot while you are loading a boat. On kayak trailers, these brackets are mounted to the trailer's frame and support bunk boards that run across the trailer. This rust-resistant bolster bracket helps support one bunk board on your boat trailer when used with a swivel bracket, two brackets are required per bunk board, and additional bracket is sold separately. The dimpled surface helps prevent the bracket from sliding along your trailer's frame, and these mounting slots are gonna permit as much as 2 3/4 inches of height adjustment during installation, and the bracket installs vertically on your boat's trailer's frame with a U-bolt. This is made in the USA of 11-gauge galvanized steel that will resist rust and corrosion.

Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped, this creates a coating that is typically three millimeters to five millimeters thick, and this thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding, so this is gonna be suitable for saltwater exposure. You are gonna get one bracket. Let me give you some overall dimensions here just to give you an idea of the size. So the overall height, we're gonna be sitting right at eight inches tall, and with our width, we're gonna be sitting right at 2 1/2 inches wide. And as I said, the length of the mounting slots measure right at 2 3/4 inches, so you're gonna get 2 3/4 inches of height adjustment on these mounting slots, and they are sitting right at half an inch wide, and then the spacing between those slots are also right at half an inch, and the swivel bracket mounting hole diameter is half an inch.

Now, check out our website here at etrailer.com if you need U-bolts or swivel brackets or bunk boards, we have a variety of options for you to choose from that will best work for your trailer. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today, I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..

  • What Hardware is Required for Assembly of the CE Smith Swivel and Bolster Bracket
The CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket, # CE10100G and # CE10201G, do not use bolts with partial thread to allow the swivel bracket to move. Once you have the swivel bracket at the angle you need, you simply tighten the bolt down to hold the swivel bracket in place. The swivel mounting hole on the swivel and bolster bracket will require a 1/2 inch bolt and the flange mounting holes that are used to secure the bunk board to the swivel bracket are 3/8 inch in diameter. You could simply...

  • Replacement Pontoon Trailer Bunk Brackets to Provide Increased Clearance Between Boat and Ground
Since your clearance issue is not so much with your trailer as with your pontoon boat's skegs, the better solution is to install taller bunk brackets to lift the height of the boat on the trailer, rather than lifting the trailer higher off the ground. Keep in mind that a tire would have to be 3-inches taller overall to give you 1-1/2-inches more height. A tire that much larger would probably create a new problem with fender or wheel well clearance. The linked page displays all bunk brackets...

  • Replacement Bunk Brackets for 13-Foot Trailer
I have added a link to our page with each of our bunk brackets on it. Each of the brackets we have available are made of galvanized steel, such as # CE26233-34GA and # CE10100G, or zinc-plated steel, such as # DL21742, which are designed to resist corrosion and avoid rotting out.

  • Availability of Stainless Steel and Aluminum Boat Trailer Bunk and Guide-On Brackets
The bunk and roller bracket replacement parts we offer for boat trailers are generally going to be pre-galvanized steel, often 16-gauge or heavier as in the case of many of the parts shown on the included links. For example, CE Smith bolster bracket # CE10100G is an 8-inch bracket made of 11-gauge galvanized steel. We do not carry stainless steel or aluminum brackets.
