Features to know about

Keeps Your Trailer Level: 1" Rise or 2" Drop

Level trailers track straighter and handle better. This heavy-duty forged mount gives you both a 1" rise and a 2" drop so you can line up your trailer just right. It measures 8-1/2" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole, giving you room to clear bumpers and couplers while keeping your setup balanced.

Built for Real Weight: 17,000 lbs GTW Rating

When you’re towing heavy gear like large campers or equipment haulers, strength matters. This Class V forged steel ball mount packs serious muscle with a 17,000-lb gross trailer weight rating and a 2,550-lb tongue weight limit. The solid, one-piece construction keeps flex to an absolute minimum so your connection stays tight when the load gets serious.

Holds Up to Hard Use: Forged Steel with Carbide Black Powder Coat

Road salt, rain, and grime can rough up a hitch over time, but not this one. Its solid forged steel body is coated in a corrosion-resistant carbide black powder finish that keeps rust at bay. It’s the kind of mount you can leave in year-round without worrying about it seizing or dulling out after a few trips through bad weather.

Simple, Reliable Setup: Fixed Mount with Standard 2" Shank

No moving parts, no adjustments—just a strong mount that slips straight into your 2" x 2" receiver. The fixed design makes it dependable every time you tow and eliminates the rattling that adjustable systems can develop. Add your preferred hitch ball with a 1-1/4" diameter shank and secure it with a hitch pin or lock (sold separately), and you’re ready to roll.

Really like how solid this hitch is built. Makes me very confident when hauling a very heavy trailer.

THANKS TO JAMES Y HE FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE IT BECAME ONE

I bought a multitude of boat trailer parts from etrailer. The parts I was able to find in one place completely finished off my new boat trailer that I had built and for a fraction of the cost.

by:

This baby is HEAVY DUTY! Would probably be able to pull the empire state building and Its made from a solid chunk of steel so if you are in a bad neighborhood you can take off your hitch and use it as a weapon.

by:

I like the weight of this solid ball mount. I usually have ball mounts that are light and hollow. This is already paying dividends as I now have (1) less thing to think when I’m pulling my trailer.

by:

Real heavy duty and strong only thing that would make it better would be a stainless steel version

by:

Perfect and very reasonable pricing

by:

This is the best and strongest ball mount that exceeds my requirements . Also, it’s well made and nice in appearance. The ball is a great one too, but it could use a place to hold with a wrench during tightening and torquing the nut. Please incorporate my suggestion.

Thanks

by:

Heavy duty.

I ordered the hitch, receiver, and wiring kit for our work van. They arrived in a timely manner and were a breeze to install, thanks to the great instructions. Really helped to be able to watch the video on the website on the installation procedures.

by:

Needed a hitch and wiring for my plumbing van. Etrailer had the best selection, price, and installation videos / guides. The electrical was super easy as well as the trailer hitch installation. I did it myself without helpers on my garage floor in 20 minutes. All you need is a 3/4 inch deep socket, 1/2 ratchet, flat head screw driver and torque wrench.

by:

I use these on 7 trucks that tow trailers 32,000 + miles per year. If you want to feel safe with a ball carrier that will stand the test this is the way to go.
I have been using these for several years with no issues and will continue to purchase them. They are heavy but they are durable.

by:

I do a lot of off road towing of a 5000LB camping trailer. All my past experiences resulted in bent hitches. This forged hitch solved my problem. Solid and no way am I going to bend this one. :-)

by:

Heavy duty ball mount and great capacities. Marked down one star due to having about 3mm of play inside of my gen 2.5 Tundra's 2inch receiver hitch. I will have to mount a set screw or find another solution for the excess play.

by:

I bought my first ball mount way back when I was broke (bought the cheapest one in the big box store). With my new trailer I needed 14k capacity instead of 10k so I double checked the mount before buying a heavier duty ball...it was rated for only 5k!! Folks, check those mounts to make sure they're rated for the job!! This one is a honker btw, love it. Side by side with old it's like brick vs bubble gum, embarrassing I haven't upgraded sooner. And thanks for the guidance.

by:

I purchased the Curt ball mount over a year ago and put it to work immediately. We have a trailer hooked to it 7 days a week and tow about 750+ miles a week per truck.
I cannot tust any light duty ball mount
to hold up to the continued use we put them through. Curt heavy duty is all we purchase for our trucks and I have never had a problem with them.

by:

Good product and super service. One note. These have 1 1/4” holes and not 1”. I missed that when I ordered. So if you’re using hitch pins make note of that.

Good heavy Hitch

Very good hitch! Heavy duty with a durable finish.

by:

I recently installed a 18,000# DMI receiver hitch on my pickup and was looking for a similarly rated draw bar to match up with it. I use the truck on my farm for pulling heavy grain wagons and dollies. Locally the strongest draw bar I could find was 12,000# so I turned to the internet and found the heaviest rating at etrailer.com at 17,000#. After placing the order I decided I should have also ordered a compatible ball at the same time. I placed another call to etrailer with my request and the helpful order rep was able to make it happen. Very helpful customer service folks and very prompt shipping. I am well satisfied all the way around.

Your product is doing its job fine. It is only used intermittently, but is always up to the task. A good product

by:

Just like the description. This this is Heavy duty for sure.

by:

The whole for the bolt is to big but I've worked it out and I think it will work.

by:

Better than I expected. A very strong solid steel.

by:

Truely solid hitch, not hollow. Made for heavy towing. Quick ship, good product.

by:

Very heavy duty hitch, fit into truck perfectly, ball attached easily as well. Definitely very good quality especially when comparing it to other hitches I have.

by:

Love this Curt ball mount. Heavy duty, rugged. One piece with no welding.
There is no chance of a breakage at weld since there is no welding on this piece. Well above my load weight. Never haul a heavier load than the limit shown on the ball mount sticker.

  • How To Rewire A 9-Pin Connector To A 7-Pin Connector
Hi Tony! Been quite a while since anyone asked me about a 9-pin connector. It's possible that is a European connector, but typically they use a 7-way that's wired differently than ours or a 13-pin. Either way, the only way to swap that over to a standard 7-way that we use over here is to test each wire for function. I did include an image of how a 9-pin it typically wired, which should help. Once you have the functions figured out, you would just need to cut that plug off and hook everything...

  • Recommended Gen-Y Hitch for 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 and Trailer with DO45 Coupling
It looks like the pin part of the DO45 (which takes the place of a standard hitch ball) has a shank with a 1-1/4" diameter so I recommend using the Curt Heavy Duty Forged Ball Mount # C45340 with a Gen-Y hitch as this ball mount has up to a 17K towing capacity. For the Gen-Y hitch it all depends on the height of the trailer and if your 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 is stock height or not. If your Chevy is stock height then you should be just fine with the Gen-Y Shank # 325-GH-303 which gives...

  • Looking for Forged Ball Mount Solution with 1 inch Diameter Ball Shaft Hole
Hey Ricardo, we don't have any forged ball mounts like what you referenced that have a 1 inch diameter ball opening as that's usually a ball shank diameter that is associated with lighter duty setups and forged ball mounts are usually for heavy duty applications. If you'd be open to also replacing your hitch ball you could use the # C45340 if you'd be open to that?

  • How to Torque Hitch Ball When Installing into Ball Mount
We don't have a combo of the Curt Hitch Ball # C40008 and Curt Ball Mount # C45340. The ball mount is extremely heavy-duty, rated up to 17,000 pounds. I think it's safe to assume you don't have a torque wrench rated up to 450 foot pounds just laying around. In which case you'll never really measure it at 450. When tightening the ball you want to make sure you get the lock washer so that it's completely flat. One way to help you do this is to put the ball mount in your hitch receiver...

  • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have...

As long as the Curt RockerBall has a 1 1/4 shank, like the # C29FR, you will have no issue installing it on the # C45340. With you using a ball that moves though, I highly suggest adding on the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061. This will keep the # C45340 completely stabile while in use.

The ball mount we have that has the closest rise/drop to 0 is the Convert a Ball part # AMSC2 which has a rise of 3/4 inches when fliped in rise position. For a 2 inch ball you'd then want the part # 40038 or for a 2-5/16 inch ball part # 63847.
