Features to know about

Slides Back Automatically for Tight Turns: 14" of Fore/Aft Travel

If you’ve ever worried about the front cap of your trailer getting too close to the cab on a tight turn, this hitch solves that automatically. The internal rack-and-pinion system moves the head up to 14" toward the tailgate whenever you turn, then slides it back into position as you straighten out. There’s no handle to pull and no need to get in and out of the truck. It’s smooth, controlled motion that gives you the room you need for slow-speed maneuvering and backing into campsites without stress.

Built to Handle Heavy Loads: 21,000 lbs GTW and 5,250 lbs Vertical Load Limit

This hitch is built from sturdy steel and rated for 21,000 lbs gross towing weight with a 5,250-lb vertical load limit. That kind of capacity means it can confidently take on large fifth wheels and toy haulers without flinching. The solid build and black powder coat finish hold up to regular towing and resist wear, so you can depend on it season after season.

Secure, Quiet Connection Every Time: Single-Piece Wraparound Jaw with Locking Bar

The single-piece wraparound jaw closes completely around the king pin for full 360-degree contact. That tight fit keeps chucking and rattle to a minimum so your ride feels stable and quiet. A 3/4" thick solid steel locking bar adds another layer of security by reinforcing the jaw once it’s closed. When it locks, it stays locked—no extra steps needed before you hit the road.

Close-up view of Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch highlighting wraparound jaw and solid steel locking bar providing secure 360-degree grip on king pin.

Smoother Ride Over Bumps: Double-Pivot Head with Polyurethane Dampeners

Road shock can wear on both your rig and your nerves, but the double-pivot head design helps smooth it out. It pivots front-to-back and side-to-side to match the trailer’s movement, while three built-in polyurethane dampeners absorb noise and vibration. The result is a quieter tow that feels more controlled when you encounter uneven pavement or steep driveways.

Easy to Drop In and Remove: OEM Puck Mount Design with Adjustable Height

Installation is straightforward thanks to the puck mount system built into the base. Just drop it into the four receiver pucks, twist the handles to lock in place, and secure them with the included safety pins. When you want full bed access, unlock the feet and lift it out—the head can be removed separately to make handling easier. Three height settings (18", 19-1/2") let you fine-tune your setup for proper bed rail clearance and level towing.

Doesnt into factory holes. Have to loosen bolts to fit into puck system them tighten them back.

Item arrived with no damage to boxes. Have not opened boxes.

Best hitch ever!! Quinn F. Was such a great help and very informative!! Thank you so much!

by:

Not happy at all I have a trip were am heading out on Wednesday early morning but my 5th wheel hitch is missing a couple of part that were not in box when I open box. Side plates and morning pucks not in box.

by:

Great company to do business with, cheapest place in town to order towing parts. Thanks, the airbags and wireless compressor is working great. Haven’t got to use the auto slider hitch yet.

by:

Solid hitch and fits as expected. Only 4 stars due to the limited hitch up angles. You really have to be within about 5 degrees of straight with the hitch in order for the system to function. Did not have this much of a problem with my other auto slide hitches, but this is the only one I could find with the weight rating I needed for my combo.

by:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT. I purchased 2 different 5th Wheel Hitches before I purchased this one. After hitting the cab of the truck, I wanted to get a slider. I did my research for several months and just kept coming back to the Demco. This hitch automatically makes the adjustment when I need it, even when I don't realize I need the extra room. I never have to get out of the truck to release the hitch to slide back. I put the hitch together with no problems, of course it came about put together anyway, and the Instructions were good. the locking down ont he truck seems to be easier than other I had. The only regret I have is that I didn't buy this one sooner.

by:

My first 5th wheel hitch and been a awesome experience. Easy to connect/disconnect. Easy to take off the truck, not that simple to put it back but not awful at all. Strong recommend for someone that wants a great hitch that need the slider because of a smaller bed. Have been hauling a large Keystone Montana like a breeze on a 2500HD Silverado.

Excellent product. Fast shipping.ooks great.Very helpful website.

This hitch has worked great for the last year. I can put the truck a full 90 degrees to the camper with no issues on my standard bed (6'8") truck. I never have to worry about taking out my back window either going forward in tight turns or backing up. The only negative is the weight of the hitch. I use an electric hoist to take the hitch in and out of my truck. Very quick and easy with the OEM puck system. The guys at Etrailer were great to work with. Best price I could find and delivery was quick and easy.

Still working good. The adapter kit for the Lippert Rhino box is the only issue I have had. The adapter plates do not stay square with the pin box. So, the connection with the DEmco hitch is not really straight.

Everything worked at well, support is e xcellent

by:

I had an 8' bed, so this slider thing is new to me on my new truck. So far, installing it requires at least 2 people, and an engine hoist. The hoist works well, but only to a certain point. Dropping the feet into the bed pucks is a nightmare because of the weight. If one side drops in and the other doesn't. it tends to get wedged and it's near impossible to lift back up. We had to loosen the bolts on the side plates to be able to adjust the feet to fall into the pucks, then re-tighten the bolts. I still don't know how I'm getting this thing OUT of my bed now... That being said, it is very sturdy and well made and gives you the freedom of not having to get out to unlock the slider, but I'm not getting any younger so this may be a short lived investment since I like to be able to grab it out and go, then drop in when needed.

Thanks for sharing your honest feelings about this hitch, really. I do have to agree that it is a VERY heavy unit so isn't really something that can be easily put in and out. Hopefully you will still enjoy your summer and be able to hit the road with your camper lots!

by:

This 21K unit is very well built. It does have some weight to it so some help installing would be much easier.my installation was completed solo and took approx 1 hour in a GMC 3500 Denali.

Great! This unit is Big, Heavy, and does the job the way it is supposed to. A smaller unit has too much slop and noisy, not this one. You want Heavy Duty without any concerns? This is the mamma jamma you want to get!

  • Comparing 5th Wheel Hitch And Gen-Y Goosebox Options For Pulling A 5th Wheel With 2024 Chevy 2500
Hello Rege, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like you are definitely on the right track with your thinking and with your assessment and comparisons of the products you mentioned. For the 5th wheel hitch, the Demco Auto slide # DM29GV and the B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3775 are the best two options as far as solid, durable USA made hitches. It sounds like you will be towing fairly often, so between those two options, I recommend the Demco. The automatic slider is extremely convenient...

  • Difference Between Demco Autoslide and Demco Autoslide Premier Series
HI Darryl; the Premier Series was a name used for a while on the Autoslide and other models when Demco switched to use industry standard bed rails. If you look further down on the # DM8550034 product page you will actually see premier series on an older overhead picture of the Autoslide. At this point the only thing it might indicate is that the hitch is older if it has that label on it. If you're wanting to use the Autoslide with your 2021 Silverado 3500 with a 6-3/4' bed and the OEM...

This comes with custom side plates which allow it to drop right in to the puck system on your Chevy 3500. It has the automatic slider and a 21K capacity, so it checks off both of those boxes as well. • Why Aren't There Safety Chains Made for Demco Hijacker Autoslide Fifth Wheel Hitch
Hey Loren, so this is a great question but the short answer is that you don't have to use safety chains with fifth wheel hitches and that's why the Demco Hijacker part # DM29GV does not have any made for it. The law about safety chains is that if there's a hitch ball you need chains which is why gooseneck setups have them and fifth wheel setups do not as they have king pins instead of hitch balls.
