Video Transcript for Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket Review

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket. Part Number DM6100. Many of our customers here at etrailer have come to us and have expressed that they've had experienced difficulty in the past when it comes time to remove the 5th wheel assembly from the bed of their truck when they want to have full access to it when they're not towing their trailer. Many have also said that it takes two to three people sometimes to remove a 5th wheel assembly, especially when they have a slider, such as this one, because the slider assembly adds a lot of weight. When you want to make it a one man operation, that's where this Demco Lifting Bracket comes into place. As you will notice it looks like a kingpin. That serves a purpose of sliding into the jaws of our 5th wheel giving us a solid attachment point.

To utilize it we'll simply open our jaws of our 5th wheel. With the jaws open we can insert our lifting device. Making sure we watch our fingers. Enclose the jaws around it. With our lifting adapter now in place we now have an eyelet here to attach a cable or chain to a engine hoist, a standard hoist on a ceiling, a crane, a wench, something of that nature.

Any lifting device that you have where you can attach a cable to properly. We can use that to lift this out of the bed of our truck. Now this lifting device is made of a sturdy steel construction and has a lifting capacity of 500 lbs., which is minimally sufficient to handle most every 5th wheel regardless if you had a slider or not. For a few dimensions for you, you're looking at 5-3/4" tall, from the very base of it to the very top of it. Diameter here is 2", just like your standard kingpin. The base is 3" wide.

The eyelet opening has a diameter of 1-1/8". That completes our look at the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket. Part Number DM6100.

Lift your 5th-wheel hitch from your truck bed with a hoist. Just install this lifting bracket into the jaws of your hitch and attach a cable to the eye.

Welded extremely strong and also powder coated. It would take forever to make one of the same quality. A little bit on the pricey side but worth it. I can easily lift my fifth wheel hitch in/out of the truck by myself with a winch.

Comments
Excellent tool for lifting the hitch.

I was pleased to find this helpful tool. When lifting my fifth-wheel hitch out of my truck bed I used a rope that I tied around the hitch in order to lift it with my engine-block crane. It wasn't very satisfactory because the hitch lifted out at a bad angle due to the locations I chose in order to run the rope around the hitch, and my knots could have slipped. There had to be a better way. There were no suspension connection points installed on the B&W Companion Hitch, to assist me, so I sought another solution. This fitting does the job perfectly.

We purchased the hydraulic pickup truck crane to get our 5th wheel hitch in and out of our truck bed. The arm on lift was not long enough to get the hitch in the proper distance, so my husband and son have modified with an extension. My husband and I are in our sixties and cannot lift the hitch up any more. This product saves from back and leg injuries.

The bracket works perfectly! I use it to lift the hitch out of my truck bed.

I used it once to take the 5th wheel hitch and adapter out of my truck and reinstall it. It worked flawlessly.

didn't know if this bracket would fit in a curt a16 5th wheel hitch. Worked fine. Lifting approx 290 lbs. Hitch and adapter.Quite satisfied with dm6100 lift bracket

Great product, great service from etrailer! Excellent solution for effortlessly lifting our fifth wheel hitch from the bed of the truck. I installed a hoist on the garage ceiling to do the lifting and rather than struggle with straps around the hitch to hook to the hoist, this bracket easily slides into the hitch and provides a no brainer way to raise it up. What ever method you use to lift your hitch (cherry picker, engine hoist, winch, ceiling hoist, pallet forks on a tractor, etc) this bracket simplifies the process. No chains, straps or ropes. Slide it in place, hook it up, and go. AND, the item arrived 2 days earlier than originally projected!

This real beats trying to trying to Lift the Demco hitch without a hoist. Sturdy and built to last.

- DM6100

Great, has held up and makes hoisting my hitch out of and especially into the back of the F350, so much more simple than my previous strap rigup.

This bracket was perfect for lifting my 5th wheel hitch into and out of my truck with a cherry picker. I built a dolly with wheels to easily move my hitch around by myself.

- DM6100
by:

Exactly what we needed. Works great with engine puller in transporting hitch in and out of truck!

- DM6100

The Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket - DM6100 works great with my over head winch for lifting my Demco 5th wheel hitch from the bed of my truck. Just clip into 5th wheel, make sure 5th wheel is latched. Then raise winch and drive out from under hitch. I then lower onto a cart to move. one person job now! No strained mussels any more!

- DM6100
by:

This will provide the tool required needed to remove and install my fifth wheel hitch from My truck.

This 5th wheel lifting device has had heavy use over the last year and is still doing the job for which it was intended. This is a great product.

Superb Component. I have gotten a great deal of use from the bracket. I have removed and installed the 5th wheel hitch many times and not needed to bull work the hitch at all. I use my engine lift, release the hitch from the flame, move the track, put on a heavy caster dolly and I am done. Sweet.

Great tool for removing the Curt 20k 5th wheel hitch. I bought a hoist from Harbor Freight and installed it in my garage. I also made a coaster for the hitch so that I can wheel it around. Now all I do is insert the 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket into the mouth of the hitch, close it and I'm done. No more strain but a lot of gain. A little expensive but worth it and they need to add this product to "5th wheel hitch accessories" to make it easier to find

- DM6100
by:

Works great. Lock in, hook up, pick up, Done. My Demco 21K Autoslide hitch is about 300Lbs of pure greatness but tough to manhandle by myself. This makes it easy, along with my chain hoist of course.

- DM6100
by:

I have used this bracket a handful of times and it has not failed on me… yet. The fit and finish on my bracket is not what I was hoping for as there were sharp edges at the top of the lifting eye opening, which tend to cut through my lifting straps, and the vertical portion of the bracket is not at a 90 degree angle in relation to the horizontal piece of the bracket. It’s only a degree or two off but I was concerned that this may prevent the bracket from locking into my hitch. It turns out that it works just fine, however I don’t have faith that the welds on the bracket will stand the test of time. The joints are all only partially welded and with a heavy hitch like mine, approaching 300 lbs., I would think that some of these welds might start to fail eventually.

- DM6100
by:

This tool works very well, it’s easy to use and has saved me a lot of time and labor of removing my Demco 5th. Wheel hitch peace by peace. I can lift the unit in one peace.

- DM6100
by:

I have a Demco Autoslider for my 40' fifth wheel and F-350 6 3/4' box. It is a great hitch, but weighs a lot and installing and removing the hitch is not easy given the weight. I had previously used straps, however getting the hitch centered on my chain hoist took some work. The Demco lifting bracket makes that task much easier.

- DM6100
by:

Works great for lifting fifth wheel hitch out of truck bed

- DM6100
by:

Using on Pullrite 2900 autoslide. Very difficult to insert and remove, when lifted hitch is not level - have to use other rigging to level hitch, when lifting hitch also rotates so have to use a strap to square up to rails. Doubt that I would purchase again or recommend - just as easy to rig with chain fall and straps.

- DM6100
by:

It works extremely well for removing and installing my 5th wheel hitch.

- DM6100
by:

It was exactly as I expected. Etrailer was quick to ship.

- DM6100
by:

Worked great. Enabled me to install the 320 lb hitch by myself. May have been able to do so without this, but it sure made it easy.

- DM6100
by:

The lifting bracket is very heavy duty and if I had an overhead hoist, it would make install/removal of the 5th wheel a breeze. Unfortunately, I only have a engine hoist at the moment and clearance is an issue.

Ask the Experts about this Demco Accessories and Parts

  • Can I Use Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket With PullRite SuperGlide
The Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket part # DM6100 will work well with your PullRite SuperGlide. The capture plate is on the actual pin box of the trailer so it would not affect the use of the Demco lifting bracket. You would just open the jaw of the SuperGlide with the handle and put the lifting bracket in the jaws. Then you can lift the fifth wheel hitch from the truck with a cable. To make it easier I recommend to use the bracket with a MaxxTow Hydraulic Pickup Truck Crane for 2" Hitches...

  • Will MaxxTow Hydraulic Pickup Truck Crane Work to Lift 5th Wheel Hitch Out of 2018 Ram 3500
The MaxxTow Hydraulic Pickup Truck Crane # MT70238 along with the Demco Bracket # DM6100 is a great option for lifting a 5th wheel hitch out of the bed of your 2018 Ram 3500 and it will work really well. Just keep in mind that the crane likely won't reach all the way to where the hitch is mounted to the rails so you will still need to manually move the hitch a bit in the bed to where the crane can grab it.
