E16 5th Wheel Jaw

Simple, Secure Hookup

With a dual-pivoting head that offers 10 degrees of lateral movement, the E16 fifth-wheel hitch makes hookup a snap, even on unlevel ground. Once the king pin slides into the hitch, the auto-locking, slide-bar jaw secures it in place. A unique feature of the E16 is the rear steel tension bar within the jaw that activates upon hookup to clamp down on the king pin, providing a tighter grip that maximizes security and minimizes rattle.

R16 5th Wheel Roller

Non-Binding S20 Slider

Specially designed for trucks with 6' to 8' beds, this non-binding slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Replacement Head Unit for Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Review

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be going over the CURT E16 replacement 5th wheel head. This is designed to replace your E16 5th wheel head. If you've already got one and you're wanting to replace it. If it got damage or if it's old and rusty this is gonna be a perfect fit. It's also gonna come with the replacement bracket.

If you'd like to swap out the head on the S20 which is their new slider base, you can put this in, mount it to the correct height and then put this hitch head right in the top of it. You are gonna get all the replacement parts that initially come with the kit so you'll get new hardware, new pins, a new handle, and this bracket. The best way to get this set up inside the S20 base is to set your head height with the bracket first and then set the head on top of it. Now with our new hardware, we can set the height of our hitch a lot easier than a lot of other hitches out there. A lot of 'em are gonna have to set it with the head attached but this bracket only weighs about 10 pounds so it's really easy to get it in place.

Now to get your new head in place, it's as simple as setting it on top of the bracket. And again, it will come with two new pins. And that's, I think that's kind of nice 'cause when you're replacing you know, new parts you'd like to put new hardware in too 'cause chances are these are gonna be pretty wore out. So some of the reasons why you would need to replace your 5th wheel head is if it's got a lot of rust on it it's gonna start to affect the integrity of the strength of the hitch itself. So if it's got too much rust you might think about replacing it.

If you've not been using enough grease or any grease at all this head can start to score and once it starts scoring you can't really go back 'cause it needs a smooth surface to slide on your kingpin base. Another reason is your grease gets dirty that can cause scoring. If you're not using a lube plate. There's a lot of different reasons of why you would need to replace this head. If your mechanism isn't working correctly anymore.

But it's good to know that you can just replace the head. But with that being said, a lot of people what they'll do is they'll, if they have an A16 or an E16 head and they have the traditional base but they get a new vehicle and they'd like to switch to the slider, you can keep your old head, get the slider, and then later on you can replace the head. So there's several different options and reasons of why you would need a new E16 head. Well, with all that being said, we've got it all installed it's ready to go, and it's ready for our next trip.

  • Dimensions of Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapters for Factory Rails on GM and Ram Trucks
The distance between the pucks on the Reese Adapter for Ram # RP30154 is 39-1/8 by 30-1/2 inches. I had to contact Curt for their Adapter Rails for Curt Fifth Wheel Sliding Hitches # C16023 that fits the GM, and according to them the pucks measure approximately 27 by 20 inches.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500
The best slider fifth wheel hitch we offer for your 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the factory rail kit is the B and W Companion slider part # BWRVK3770. Reese does not have a slider for the GM truck rail kits at this time. The Companion hitch is considered by most to be the best fifth wheel hitch on the market. We recommend it highly because of that and our own experience with it's durable and reliable design.

  • Converting Curt Q24 Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch To OEM Puck System on 2018 GMC Sierra 3500
Thank you for all of the info! There are a few different options for using your sliding Curt Q24 # C16546 with the puck system on your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500. If you have the short bed then you need the Adapter Rails # C16023 but if you have the long bed you can either use the Adapter Rails # DM6206 to retain the sliding feature (for future use) or you can swap out the slider for the Stationary Legs # C16025 which drops your Q24 straight into the pucks on your pickup. • Using a Reese 20K Round Tube Slider 5th Wheel Hitch in a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 w/Factory Prep Package
As long as your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 is a short bed you can use adapter # C16023 with your Reese 20K hitch with round tube slider. If your truck is a long bed the above adapter will not fit due to differences between the short and long bed versions of the factory prep package. Assuming your factory prep package includes the gooseneck hitch as well you can use adapter # DM6206 with your Reese hitch on the long bed model. Installing any other 5th wheel installation kit would be a major...

From looking at the picture you provided, your Mopar M20 hitch was made by Curt. And specifically, it is their Q20 # C16530-16021. Just to make sure, I did contact Curt and they confirmed this information. This is very good news. It means you can continue to use the head as it will bolt directly to the Curt R20 Round Tube Slider # C16550 without losing any capacity. • Finding a 5th Wheel Hitch for Aftermarket Puck System in 1999 Ford F-350
The Curt # C16023 is for a Curt hitch to fit onto the factory pucks from GM. It definitely won't fit your 1999 Ford F-350. At first I was thinking you likely have the puck system for the Reese Elite Series in your truck. It's part # RP30073, or it could be its predecessor which was for the Reese Signature Series. The catch is neither include a hole for a gooseneck ball. Does your truck already have a gooseneck ball hole? Check the dimensions between your pucks and see if they line up...

We have just what you need. The Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 6-1/2' Bed - 21K # DM6194. This is the only adapter currently available for the Chevy puck system to utilize a hitch like your Reese 15K that uses the standard above bed rails. This system does use the gooseneck you mentioned not wanting, and yet it also utilizes the 4 other pucks as well. It will be a very sturdy adapter to ensure your 5th wheel hitch is completely functional....

The Ford OEM puck system is different than the Chevrolet/GMC OEM puck system therefore, you can't use a 5th wheel hitch from one in the other. The Ford OEM system has pucks which are much closer together than on the Chevrolet/GMC OEM system. For a Reese 16K sliding 5th wheel hitch and the install bracket/rail kit, you could go with the # C95DR 16K sliding 5th wheel hitch and the # RP56015-53 install kit. However, I'd recommend the Curt A16 hitch, part # C16521 over what Reese offers. Unlike the Reese hitch, the Curt A16 offers a torsion articulating system for the hitch head which helps isolate the tow vehicle from road shock and noise. The interlocking hitch jaws hold the king pin much more tightly around its circumference...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 3500 Crew Cab with 6-1/2 foot bed
I checked with Reese and you are correct, the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Outboard Installation Kit # RP56001-53 that you referenced is the correct install kit for your 2015 GMC Sierra 3500 with a 6-1/2 foot bed. Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch, for that I recommend the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR.

  • Is There a Mopar Puck System For The Factory 5TH Wheel to Fit a 2020 Ram 1500 with 6'4" Bed?
While Ram does not offer a puck system for your 2020 Ram 1500 Jim, I can help you get everything you need to be able to pull your 5th wheel. First you will need a Rail Kit # C16307-204 for a place to attach the 5TH Wheel Hitch # C95DR. And I would also recommend installing a 7-Way # 41157 in your bed to not damage the wiring from extending over your tailgate.

  • Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard 5th Wheel Rail Kit for 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 Short Bed
The correct Reese Outboard Fifth Wheel Rail kit for your 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 short bed is the part # RP84FR which we have confirmed is a fit. This would allow you to install a slider hitch in the bed of your truck like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2012 Ram 1500
You would be barely under the towing capacity but technically yes, if your 2012 Ram 1500 has a 10,250 towing capacity and the trailer you are looking at weighs 10,244 lbs you would be good to go. However, you need to consider the fact that when you are towing this trailer you only will have about 6 lbs worth of capacity left over for cargo. Realistically that's probably not going to be enough so a lighter trailer would be a better choice. The part # RP30081 that you referenced would be...

  • Fifth Wheel and Rail Install Kit Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
A 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a Duramax diesel engine should have no problem towing a trailer with the weights you listed. Since different options will give different towing capacities you will still want to check with the Chevy dealer you are shopping at to be 100 percent certain. If a long bed truck is an option at all I would recommend that over the short bed. Short bed trucks require a slider hitch so that the setup has the needed clearance to make tight turns. While a ton of...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit and Sliding Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ram 1500 Short Bed
There is a rail kit available that will work on your 2014 Ram 1500 without air suspension. Check out the Curt Fifth Wheel Installation kit part # C16306-204. This rail kit is compatible with Curt fifth wheel hitches. For a 16k slider hitch I like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR. The jaws of this hitch provide 360 degree contact with the king pin to minimize jarring and chucking.

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Hitch to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2014 Toyota Tundra
The towing capacity of your 2014 Tundra is determined by Toyota, not either dealership. I recommend checking your owner's manual with your truck's specifics. Or you can contact Toyota with your VIN and they should be able to tell you how it came directly from the factory. I looked up a copy of your truck's manual but I'd still look at a printed copy if possible because as you said it has the tow package and 5.7L V8 but the capacity also depends on the bed length and cab style. From what...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch & Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2014 GMC 2500 Denali Short Bed
Absolutely, the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR that you referenced would be an excellent choice for a slider hitch. The Reese rail kit part # RP50066-58 that you referenced would also be an excellent choice for a rail kit. This is a custom install kit that will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch, Rail Kit and Suspension Enhancement for 2015 GMC 1500 Sierra
To determine the towing capacity for your 2015 Chevy Silverado you will need to find the vehicle placard where the statement "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs." You will need to add the weight of all of the cargo and passengers in your vehicle together and subtract that from the XXXX number to determine your overall towing capacity. I checked the owners manual of your vehicle to acquire this information. For a fifth wheel hitch for your...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
Custom install rail kits are the way to go. They install in less than half the time and minimize drilling. The only advantage to the universal kit is that it costs less. But the headache the custom fit rail kits allow you to avoid is worth the money. The part # RP50064-58 would be the way to go and it is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500. Since you have a short bed truck you will need a slider hitch. The most popular option is the part # C95DR.
