Using a Reese 20K Round Tube Slider 5th Wheel Hitch in a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 w/Factory Prep Package

Question:

I purchased my Reese 20K Tube Slider hitch w/custom rail kit from you. Question: What is the part number to use my 20K Tube Slider in a 2018 Sierra 3500, with the factory installed Kurt hitch assembly? or can it be used with the factory installed Kurt assembly? If the 2018 Sierra does not have the Kurt assembly would the custom kit, part #50066 work in the 2018?

As long as your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 is a short bed you can use adapter # C16023 with your Reese 20K hitch with round tube slider.

If your truck is a long bed the above adapter will not fit due to differences between the short and long bed versions of the factory prep package. Assuming your factory prep package includes the gooseneck hitch as well you can use adapter # DM6206 with your Reese hitch on the long bed model.

Installing any other 5th wheel installation kit would be a major project because first the factory system would have to be removed and then you would be left with several holes in the bed.

Question:

Thanks for the info........ Part two of my question was; if the 2018 doesn't have the factory under belly hitch assembly, what would be the custom rail kit for the Reese 20K tube slider? Would it be the same custom kit I purchase for my HD 2500, part #50066?

If the 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 does not have the factory prep package then Reese custom installation kit # RP50066-58 is indeed a fit for both the long and short bed models of the truck. The rails included will accept any 5th wheel hitch that fits in above the bed industry standard rails. I have linked a video showing an example installation of this kit for you.
