The hitch works well going down the road. I followed all the instructions to set up the hitch and I found the recommended tension to be off (as in my front suspension would rise rather than lower). I just had to go one step further down angle to get the tension I needed. I have to hitch my truck and then jack the tongue jack way up to the point the jack will barely lift in order to get the bars on, by hand. I feel using the bar lever tool to be much more sketchy than using the chain style tool. I had a chain style hitch before and felt it worked better. Maybe my expectations are too high for a $[XX] hitch though.

Shipping Box was torn up with torn holes in it. Many main parts were missing from the torn box. Had to reorder the parts. Even paid additional money for faster shipment but it still took over 2 days to ship replacement parts from back East warehouse to courier. Apparently top management has done very little to solve this continuing shipping\warehouse problems. These type of problems start at the TOP! Technical support,Nichole H, was very nice on the phone but she could do very little with etrailer's apparent problems. No Q/A apparently at shipping Dept.Very disappointed with etrailer's upper management!! I will upload photos in an update once I learn how to get pics from my Iphone to my PC.

Package arrived quite damaged. Description of the product never stated that the "weight carrying ball mount" is only 5000lbs

I can see that the box is in rough shape. If there is any damage to the system or any missing parts please let us know. Yes you are correct in that if you just use the ball with the weight distribution head then it is rated for 5,000 pounds however when used with the bars overall system is rated for 8,000 pounds.

by:

Unbelievably bad experience dealing with etrailer. The initial shipment didn't arrive until 3 days after it said it would arrive. They told me shipping dates aren't guaranteed, read the fine print (so why put a date on your website, why not be honest and say you have no idea when it will arrive?). The box had ripped open in transit because they put about 100 lbs of metal parts in a cardboard box without padding, so all the small parts fell out. It took 2 weeks to receive the second shipment. Despite telling them exactly what was missing, they sent the whole kit again, and the exact same thing happened. I now have two of all the large metal pieces, but still missing many of the nuts and bolts that hold it together. It is not worth trying to support non-Amazon retailers if this is what happens.

by:

Product is fine, I believe Reese makes quality products. My problem is with your website. Put in the Camper/trailer you have and we will find the products that will work for you. This is the weight distribution setup recommended for my camper. Purchased it. 100% will work for me. Problem is the ball that comes with it is the wrong size for my camper. So had to purchase the right size ball as it was being installed. Will never trust your recommendations again. And not sure I will ever purchase from you again. So maybe take the time to research you products so people buy the correct items.

by:

I can only rate this product based on the Reese brand, knowing it is going to work well. If I were to have to rate shipping, it would be one star. This box had two stops before destination and was destroyed. Not too happy that the paint is all scuffed and road rashes as well. should listen to everyone else having the exact issues with delivery

by:

Easy install. Very easy to follow this video instructions. Worked perfectly.

by:

the hitch was delivered quickly. Box was torn up and parts may be missing. The parts I got looked good. I will install in a few days and update review.

by:

Worked perfectly for my Travel Trailer. Instructions were good and the hitch works well and is easy to operate. Shipped and received in timely manner. etrailer website was easy to use and ensured I got the right equipment and video was helpful for installation. Recommend you use etrailer and Reese

Product works perfect, couldnt be happier with this purchase and customer service.

by:

Clip that was holding 1 of the bar up broke off after 1 trip. I was able to make a makeshift clip to replace it. Told etrailer I would be perfectly happy w it if they just give me a discount. But no they insist on sending a new head unit. Fine. Now the bolt wont come off, I have to make trips to Home depot to get tools. As of now even a power impact tool cannot remove the bolt, I'm not sure what to do. Very unhappy with Reese product. Very unhappy wiht etrailer solution. Will not be returning.

What can happen is that the bolts get over-tightened. When this happens you can first try a penetrating spray lubricant like PB Blaster onto the over-tightened nuts. You would spray on the lubricant and let it sit for an hour, then reapply and let it work some more. If this does not loosen the nuts then you can try heating the nuts with a torch to make them expand. Now, once you get the nuts off of the bolts, you will need to get replacement hardware from the manufacturer, I will be sending you their information via email.

by:

order arrived on time. the box was a little damaged but all parts were in tact and good shape. I put every thing together and now I am waiting to fine tune it to my trailer. It is everything I expected, the only thing is the ball shank is does not fit snuggly into My receiver. there seems to be too much play. needs some kind of a shim or spacer to tighten it up.

by:

Does what it should, and zero complaint s.

by:

The product is working as expected and makes towing easier. I bought this product to tow a 27ft travel trailer and everything is well built and heavy duty. The install was ok with a tutorial I found on [online] by Reese .

My only issue is not with the product itself but with how it was shipped. The box was not heavy-duty enough to consider the weight of the product. The pieces are heavy and tore up the delivery box because of this I was missing a bolt and washer which was key to install. Although etrailer tried to fix the issue it was faster to go out and my local hardware store and buy the missing pieces.

by:

Shipping with UPS was terrible!!! Had to pick up from distribution center because they had beat the box to pieces. Luckily the parts take off list and instructions were still in the box and all parts were accounted for. Although most of the paint was rubbed off the receiver and tension bars before use it was easy to setup and install. Have yet to make a trip with them further than down the block to level parking lot.

Honestly this can happen despite our best effort to package them well. I recommend using a rust resistant paint like Rustoleum to touch up the system. I will also have our Customer Service team reach out to you.

by:

After all the reviews I thought maybe they figured it out to package the kit a bit better but NOPE here I am needing this in two days and it’s absolutely useless now! Box came destroyed. Missing spring Bar Covers and the two pins. Anger is an understatement, I’m on a tight timeline.

I can understand your frustration with the missing parts from the WD system. Customer service will be in touch to have the missing pieces shipped out.

by:

I have not installed the hitch yet but I've checked and all parts are there and everything is in good shape. Unfortunately the shipping box was pretty beat up and re-taped. And UPS delivered it to the wrong address. A neighbor called several hours after delivery was "confirmed." I was able to retrieve it in one piece. In addition the first one I ordered UPS took back even before it was delivered because the shipping box was coming apart. It seems that Reese should do some work on their packaging. etrailer was very responsive to the first issue and shipped out a new hitch the next day!

It sounds like the box had a rough trip for sure. This system comes with a two and five sixteenth ball. I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. If your trailer coupler takes a two inch ball then I recommend part # A-90.

by:

How do they ship a box full of really heavy objects in a single ply cardboard box? The contents aren't individually wrapped or protected in any way, so they bang against each other, scraping the powder coating off. It looks like they were put in a parts tumbler. There was a 10"x10" section of the box almost completely gone, just being held on by a piece of tape. There was small parts just rolling around loose in the box so of course, there's parts missing. so now I have to sit on hold to get it fixed.

I tried to add more pictures of the damage to the parts, but they failed to upload.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have sent your information to our customer service team and they will be reaching out to you as soon as possible.

by:

Hope you don't have a problem. The hitch i ordered showed up in a mangled box and I had to order missing parts again, it happens, no big deal. The assembly required torturing down a nut that would not tighten but since I had already received parts from the factory (not my fault) they told me to go buy something at my local hardware store as they would not be helping any more. I did and got the hitch finished but will not be doing business with these people again.

by:

provided shank would not work with my '15 4wd F150. Needed holes in the 90 degree angle of shank. I have not pulled trailer yet but this new WD hitch appears to be superior to my 10yo pro series trunion.

John F.

2/22/2021

ok. etrailer sent me the correct shank. I had to hitch height one hole so I can tail gate with out striking handle area on hitch. Fords bulky handle area may be the cause. My old hitch was a little longer.

by:

I don't know abut the quality of this hitch because I never received it from the seller. Apparently it was poorly packaged and the shipping box fell apart. I checked and this was a common issue from other buyers.

by:

Pretty PISSED THAT THE BOX WAS OPEN ON MY DOOR STEP..
HOPE ALL THE PARTS ARE IN THE BOX... PRETTY PISS POOR BOXING UP!!!!!!!!!!

by:

Pulling a Keystone Passport Ultra Lite with my Tundra, this made towing so much more stable. It was a night and day difference!

by:

So far so good. budget a couple of hours for assembly and getting adjusted just right. Also, you'll need a 1" thin walled socket - if your impact socket set doubles as your large size hand-ratchet sockets, you'll find yourself unable to tighten the top bolt on the trailer brackets - it happened to me.

by:

Came missing parts due to very poor packaging. Missing instructions as well.

  • What If My Trailer Wil Not Allow Me To Put Frame Brackets 27" Back From The Hitch Ball
The frame brackets on the Reese round bar # RE94FR need to be located between 24-1/2" and 27-1/2" from the hitch ball. If you do not have room for the brackets we do have the Blue Ox Trackpro # BLU67FR. The frame brackets on the Blue Ox need to be mounted between 20" and 25" from the hitch ball. So you do have options and flexibility if the tongue of your trailer has limited space. Both of these systems come with adjustable shanks. So if your trailer is at an angle, you can adjust the...

Instead I recommend switching over to the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-1200. This hitch is rated for trailers up to 12,000lbs with a tongue weight of 800-1,200lbs. It's not a matter of placing stress on the bars. When backing the trailer, especially at a sharp angle it's pretty easy to jackknife the trailer, and when it happens it happens very quickly. If you're backing the trailer at a fairly straight angle, you'll be fine. However if you're in a situation where you're cutting a sharp angle to maneuver into a tight spot it's best to disconnect the bars so the system isn't damaged if the trailer jackknifes.
