Video Transcript for Review of Curt Weight Distribution Hitch - WD With Sway Control - C79JR
Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this CURT TruTrack weight distribution system with the two-point sway control. Now, that does not come with a shank, and it has a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this weight distribution hitch will create a more stable ride for your tow vehicle and your trailer. Adding the spring bars right here to your towing system applies leverage, which will transfer the load that is pushing down on the rear of your vehicle to all of the axles on both the tow vehicle and your trailer, resulting in a nice, even distribution of weight throughout.
The result you get is a nice, smooth level ride as well as the ability to tow the maximum capacity of your hitch. The built-in sway control keeps your trailer in line by using the specific tension points right here and the steel on steel resistance. Application for this one, it is designed to fit on two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers that are rated for use with weight distribution systems. Maximum gross trailer weight capacity is 10,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity range is 800 to 1,000 pounds.
Now, the tongue weight rating is the most important factor in determining which size weight distribution system you should use. And determine the proper weight rating for your system, you must first determine your trailer's tongue weight. Then after you have the tongue weight, add that to the weight of the cargo that is behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. These two measurements combined will make up the tongue weight rating for your weight distribution system. Now, this system will include everything laid out here on the table.
It includes the head assembly right up here, the two swing, swing spring bars, the two sway control brackets, the snap-up handle, all the pins and clips needed, all the necessary hardware, and a nice set of instructions on how to install it. Now, just to let you know that this one does not come with the adjustable shank or the hitch ball. Both of those items are sold separately on our website. Now, when you do install your shank onto this, you'll get the desired tilt by using the pivot point on this system head. So, when you put these bolts through your shank, it'll allow it to adjust and give you the correct tilt you need.
So, there's no more having to pile on washer after washer to get the correct tilt like on some of your weight distribution systems that are out there. Now, this one does use the integrated, let me just zoom in, we can talk about it. Right here, this is the integrated two-point sway control, which will limit side to side movement of the trailer. It has these no-drill, clamp-on brackets that'll mount directly to your trailer frame. And they are designed to fit trailer frames with a maximum height of six inches and a maximum width of four inches. The brackets will let it keep the spring bars in place for a nice, rigid system that holds your trailer in line. Right down here on each side, it's a steel on steel friction that'll help minimize the sway that's caused by any winds or sudden maneuvers. And if you notice on this system, there's no lift chain, so it eliminates the unwanted movement of the spring bars. And these spring bars work with the brackets to transfer the tongue weight evenly to your tow vehicle. Spring bars are constructed of a forged steel and they insert into the head assembly pretty easy. They just have the easy to use snap pins right here that the spring bars will snap right into place. If you notice the finish on this, the whole, all the pieces are pretty much a black carbide powder coat finish, which is very durable and corrosion resistant. But that should do it for the review on the CURT TruTrack weight distribution system with the two-point sway control. Now, it does not include the shank, and it has a 10,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..
