Question:
In wiring directions for brake controller it says to wire into non powered brake light wire. only lit during braking. What wire would I tap @ 7 pin vehicle connector for this purpose? I thought wire is shared with turn signal. I was told there was no plug and play Kit to connect to my brake controller on my 2008 highlander without factory trailer tow package. Thank you for your help

I have attached a couple of drawings that show how the wires are routed when installing a brake controller, and how the wires are run from the 7-way connector on your 2008 Toyota Highlander.
I have also included a couple of helpful articles that explain brake controller installation and how to install a 7-way connector. You can check out the attached video that shows a brake controller installation on a Toyota Highlander. The year of the vehicle may be different from yours, but the installation will be similar.
When wiring in your vehicle I recommend using a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to make sure you know what the function of the wires are as you complete your installation.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connectors and helps prevent corrosion.
