Haul More Gear with Confidence: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

This hitch is built for real work and everyday trips. With a 2" x 2" receiver opening, a Class III rating, a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs, and a maximum tongue weight of 750 lbs, it's ready for hauling small campers, boats, utility trailers, or bike racks. It’s a solid way to expand what your vehicle can carry without worrying about flex or weak points.

Tackle Installs Without the Hassle: Bolt-On Design and Included Hardware

You don’t need a lift or welding setup to get this hitch on your vehicle. The fully welded design bolts directly to the frame with the included hardware kit—no drilling or welding required. The mounting points line up cleanly so you can get it done in a driveway or small garage with hand tools.

Stand Up to the Elements: Matte Black Powder Coat Over Protective Base

The matte black powder coat finish doesn’t just look good—it’s built to last. It sits over a protective base coat that offers superior rust and corrosion resistance. The rugged, round-tube design has a carbide-like look that hides scuffs and road grime better than glossy finishes, keeping the hitch looking sharp for years of use.

Close-up comparison of matte carbide black powder coat versus glossy black trailer hitch finish highlighting texture and light reflection

Ready for Everyday Use: Works with Ball Mounts, Bike Racks, and Cargo Carriers

Once it’s installed, you’ve got options. The standard 2" receiver works with most ball mounts, cargo platforms, and bike racks so you can tow or carry what you need. It’s strong enough for consistent use and simple enough to swap between accessories without special adapters or tools.

Great!

by:

The hitch arrive in good time. Nice sturdy build quality. All mounting hardware was in the package. Harness adapter was easy to install. Only cons was the hitch had to be clamped in place to align the bolt holes. And the 10amp fuse that was supposed to be included was not in the harness box

by:

The product is as described.

by:

Delivery was quick. Placed order Sunday arrived Thursday. Four day delivery fee $x.xx. Nice! Videos of what was involved was spot on for my vehicle. I had two people helping, a floor jack and a scissors jack to help position the hitch. It would seem that during shipping the box was dropped at some point as the holes did not line up perfectly and I ended up using a scissors jack against the spare to splay the hitch slightly to get the final bolt to start by fingers. Overall very satisfied.

by:

Hitch is great, however when delivered the box was pretty beat up and the ends of the hitch were scraped as they had blown out of the sides of the box, there was also a section of the hitch pretty badly scraped. i needed it installed, so went ahead and touched up the scratches. Requires more attention to the packaging.

by:

So easy to install and it arrived on the very day it was promised to arrive!! It’s a perfect fit for our 2013 Toyota Highlander. Thanks so much, to the fine folks at etrailer.com! I would recommend this site to anyone in need of a trailer hitch receiver.

by:

Very nice hitch. Looks and works great on my 2012 Toyota Highlander. I had my mechanic install it since he was doing a bunch of work anyway. But he said it was really simple and didn’t take very long.

I am still very happy with my trailer hitch. My car is a 4 cyl so I cant tow anything, but I have been able to take my family on numerous bike and camping trips during COVID, which has been great. Its very sturdy and no doubt could handle much more than I do with it. Great value for the cost!

by:

The hitch seems well made and sturdy. I plan to use it for small trailers, a hitch cargo rack and a bike rack. Installation was fairly easy and straight forward. I put the rear end up on ramps for accessibility. A second person would have made it easier, but I was able to make due with jack stands. The front drivers side bolt hole did not line up, but I was able to solve the issue with a 4"x4" wedged against the spare tire. The diagram for cutting the drivers side under panel was a little off and I has to cut the hole larger than shown. The passenger side panel required no cutting at all. Good value for the price.

by:

The receipt of the shipment caused some concerns (see photos). Between packing and shipping I can concluded that the two variables contributed to the hitch getting slightly bent. Apologies no photos available, the hitch was off alignment by approximately 1/8". In my opinion addressing the packing will minimize the bent hitch issues. However, shipping & handeling is anothe variable to the issue.I also want to mention etrailer product presentation was questionable. Someone placed an etrailer sticker upside down on the hitch (photo attached). Otherwise, I am completely satisfied with the Class III 2" Hitch from etrailer.

by:

The product is excellent quality and is performing well.
Whether it was the packaging or the handling (or other variances), the installation was 3+ hours difficult.
The videos provided are a great idea, but one is needed for "Troubleshooting and Possible Solutions When the Holes Don't Line Up!"

by:

took me about 2.5 hours start to finish. luckily a neighbor walked by at the moment I needed a little help lifting it and holding it in position to get the first bolts started. The templates for trimming the plastic panels wasn't quite right. The trim panel on the passenger side didn't actually need any cutting and I put it back in place fully intact. Drivers side trim panel did need a narrow cut to accommodate the hitch, but I recommend holding it up and eyeballing it rather than following the provided template that would have you cut a hole in the wrong place and removing more panel coverage than needed. Looks clean and feels strong. be careful not to cross thread the bolts, one of the welded frame nuts that was covered by a rubber gromet was pretty rusty and had to be threaded. As others experienced, I also had to use a clamp/vice to get the holes to all line up, but it wasn't too hard. I like the matte black finish.

by:

The only issue was the packaging. One end poked out of the box, probably 5o help the driver find the address. The paint was scratch and dent free. The install was smooth as room temp butter, the 2nd attempt. Something went wrong with the first attempt, screws didn't line up with 2 holes. The videos were a BIG help with the wiring. I was in a tight garage space. I had more of an issue getting under the dash than the install itself.
The price was better than 4 other sources, and shipping amount and time better than a 5th.

When a trailer hitch is constructed, softer steel is used in the side plates as opposed to the harder steel used in the crossbar and receiver tube. This allows the hitch to flex along with the vehicle to a certain degree. This flexibility can also allow the hitch to get slightly bent out of position during shipping and handling. The good news is that it's very easy to fix this if you know a few tricks as shown in the linked article.

I bought this item convins being I will get the best deal. As of item it is good but WRONG finished . The left part (the one opposed to exhaust) much bent inside. See the attached pictures. That made installation almost impossible. The cutting for mud plastic protection is wrong, very wrong represented. Good for me because I am fabricator and auto mechanic with all skills and tools. I attached a picture for someone who still wants to take chance buying one. But be prepared with a helper next to you if you do not to take to a specialized shop. One think is for sure , time for installation from factory is a joke, unless they do take care of the original problem the left end bended. Do not believe it can bent with hammer. If it was finish as it should be, it was perfect. After all my work it looks and works well. For that reason I gave only 3 stars. Otherwise joyfully I would gave 5 stars.

So when it comes to shipping, it is very common for hitches to bend. You can use a vise to bend it back into place. Please see the link below for more details.

It works good but was impossible to install as came from factory. As I said at the time you have to adjust it after it was assembled per car dimensions specifications. If you do that it can be a great asset. Others it is impossible for regular person to install it. I am mechanic minded and fabricator as profesional education that help me to install the hitch on my car. Again please please please do not delivered them to buyer.

by:

Delivery, service and price are excellent. I only gave it a 4 star because when installing the trailer hitch the holes were off by about 1" and took some time to make everything fit.

I am glad that you got it to work out Jan. Sometimes hitch receiver brackets can be flexed and need some bending back into alignment. There is more about it in this help article:

2013 Highlander. Hitch previously installed and removed before I bought the car. Hitch was delivered timely, Fit perfectly, installed myself in 1 hour. No problems. bolt patterns were good.

by:

Very solid product. It was easy enough to install by myself, but having a second pair of hands would have sped things up significantly. Perfect vehicle fit and instructions were clear and concise.

Good price shipped quickly and when I need support they were fantastic

by:

Purchased this for hauling mtb bikes on the back of our old highlander. Etrailer was recommended by a popular local hitch shop as they had no stock in inventory for our vehicle. Package arrived quickly, the box was a bit beat up, but the hitch was in good condition with no obvious blemishes/issues. Started installation on passenger side and found driver side bolt holes to be off by as much as 1.5". Followed instructions on [etrailer], using a 2x4 and car jack to spread out mounting brackets and after futzing for a bit, fit no problem. Some pointers.. much easier to install with 2 people; measure gaps before starting to force spread mounting brackets so you don't have to check by 'fit test'; only had to cut a small amount out of driver side plastic underbody panel to get back on, passenger side didn't need any; overall plan on 2-3 hours start to finish. Took a star off because of dealing with re-aligning mounting brackets, otherwise looks good and is solid.

Im glad the help article allowed to you correct the hitch flex. I have linked the article here as well.

by:

Box arrived via UPS and was ripped open at the corner. I was worried that the hardware was missing but eTrailer was smart enough to tape the hardware into the receiver so it was all accounted for. The hitch is sturdy and seems well made. You definitely need two strong people for the install and either use a lift or ramps so you have more room to work. The only issue we encountered was that the middle hole on the driver’s side was a hair off which would have made the bolt go in sideways. With a lot of muscle we were able to get the hitch aligned to insert the bolt. Having to seriously struggle with the middle hole on the driver’s side for about 20 minutes made my rating 4 stars instead of 5. In total it took us about 2 hours to complete and we have some mechanical experience. All in all, the price was good, quality seems good, I would recommend this hitch.

A year later and the hitch is still holding up nicely! Great for hauling mulch and wood pellets in our utility trailer.

by:

Solid, easy to follow instructions. Was able to install it using a jack stand and a pneumatic jack to raise it up enough so that was easy. Finish is nice, should hold up just fine.

by:

Like a lot of the feedback, my hitch came bent. I managed to successfully install it although it took several hours.

To do so i used a small step stool to try and align one side and a jack to align the other. What helped the most was a method i saw from another comment. It was a little sketchy and required brute force. I mounted one side, then the other side i wrapped wire into a loop until strong. Then used a breaker bar against the frame as a lever which saved the day. I copied the other comments photo just because i think it’s the most helpful method of installation. All in all, a solid product. Just very anger inducing to install.

by:

Solid hitch. Took me a couple hrs by myself and with a floor jack to get it all mounted up and put back together. No issues getting the metal hitch mounted up properly. The cutout pattern instruction for the drivers side plastic under-cover was wrong. I had to spend some time cutting and custom fitting it back on. Passenger plastic cover went on fine without trimming.

by:

Bought to carry a 6 bike vertical rack. Seems very stable so far. Had to pry the hitch out as it had shortened during shipping. Took 5 extra minutes. Loved that I didn’t have to drill any extra holes or run any bolts with guide wires like other hitches I’ve installed.

by:

After reading other reviews, I was worried this receiver would arrive bent or somehow not line up with the bolts, but that wasn't the case. Removing the left and right panels took about 5 mins per side. I don't have a fancy motorized socket tool like in the video, so the he factory installed tow plates bolts required leverage on my 1/2" ratchet (I tried 3/8" ratchet at first - no way, you have to have a 1/2" ratchet) - in my case I used a 4' section of 3/4" copper pipe that I had lying around. It fit over the ratchet handle and made quick work of the 4 existing bolts. On the passenger side the video shows removing a rubber plug but I found this wasn't necessary. The passenger side bolts into the four existing points without interference from the rubber plug. I was able to install this by myself, with the rear wheels of the car on ramps, with a 2 minute assist from my wife to hold the drivers side up when I got the bolts started on the passenger side. Everything lined up perfectly. Total install time for me was under 30 mins. As others have said, the passenger side cover did not need any modification for re-installation, and the drivers side template cuts out a lot. I suggest eyeballing the drivers side and cutting it without the template. Installed, the receiver looks great, the color matches perfectly, and I'd rate it 5 stars. Last note - wear eye protections, lying under the car and removing panels causes dirt to fall everywhere. Your eyes will thank you when stuff falls on your face.
