Looking for Replacement Hitch Pin for Yakima Holdup
Updated 10/22/2026 | Published 10/21/2026 >
Question:
Hello, I recently purchased a used Yakima HoldUp 2-bike rack with a 2-inch hitch shank, possibly model 8002443 2013+. It’s black with red YAKIMA lettering, gray adjustment levers, and a rectangular tilt-release handle. The unusual issue is that the hitch shank has a hole on only one side the opposite wall is solid. The original mounting hardware is missing, and the seller claims he used a standard 5/16-inch hitch pin. I’ve looked at replacement kit 8890260, but the bolt appears too long, and there’s no opening for the retaining clip. Is this an original Yakima configuration, and what hardware would properly secure it? I’d prefer not to drill or modify the rack. Thanks

Before ordering hardware, could you send a picture showing both sides of the hitch shank where the pin is supposed to pass through?
That should help determine whether you're looking at an original Yakima configuration, a damaged anti-rattle assembly, or a modified shank.
If the shank is intact and the original internal nut is simply missing, #8890260 is the correct replacement kit.

I think what I am looking is more like Part Number: 8880826 or the mechanism inside it. The shank I have has a wedge and the tensioning rod and knob also seem missing.
