Question:
Hello. I thought to ask whether a Thule Revert 4 Bike Rake will fit into the Curt Hitch C69VV, particularly whether the receiver depth and hitch pin hole of the Curt are a match to the Thule. I have a 2022 Subaru Outback, but Ill be having a relatively light load, 2 mountain bikes and 2 kids bikes for less than 250 lbs inclusive of the Thule weight. Alternatively, will the Thule fit the Blue Ox Trailer Hitch BLU92VR? The Blue Ox has a stronger tongue weight, but I would prefer the Curt, given the light load. Happy to have any additional thoughts you might have on this or other choices. Thank you!!

Hello John,
Thanks for writing in.
Yes, the Thule ReVert 4 Bike Rack # TH73VA will work with both the Curt Trailer Hitch # C69VV and the Blue Ox # BLU92UR on your 2022 Subaru Outback. Both have the receiver depth needed for the Thule's hitch pin to line up properly.
Since you mentioned your total weight, including the bike rack, will be under 250 lbs, I would go with the Curt # C69VV. It has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity, so you will be within the hitch's rating. I attached an image so you can see exactly where the receiver will sit after installed.
I just saw you posted another question. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C67JR will also work with your Thule bike rack, and you are correct, it will give you better ground clearance.
I do want to point out that the installation is a little more involved since you will need to remove the rear fascia. Just make sure to use painter's tape like we show in our installation video to protect your paint, and take your time when removing and reinstalling everything.
One thing I do want to point out is that most trailer hitches are rated to handle more weight than the vehicle itself. You will always want to follow what Subaru says your Outback can handle, regardless of the hitch's rating. We are only as strong as our weakest link, so you will need to go by whichever capacity is lower.
The Blue Ox does have a higher tongue weight capacity, but for what you're hauling, I don't see a reason to go with the higher-rated hitch. You won't need any additional adapters to use the Thule bike rack with either receiver.
I really like your choice in bike rack! I prefer the vertical racks for anything over 2 bikes, the 4 bike racks really stick out there.
Do you have a specific trail you like to ride? We have the Katy Trail here in Missouri, it is 240 miles and pretty flat with great scenes. This next spring I plan on riding the whole trail on my bike and tent camp along the way, I am looking forward to the challenge!

I like the Blue Ox design but it has a flaw where the receiver was angled downward about 6 degrees. They sent me a second hitch which was installed but it was the same issue. Mine was on a 2025 Outback Wilderness but the Curt part number for the Wilderness and the regular Outback was the same so I think my problen would have been the same for non-Wilderness models as well. It was a big fiasco where Blue Ox made me ship back both tow frames that were heavy and very akward to wrap for shipping. I did get my money back but the process played out over months and was a huge hassle. I now have the Curt hitch which holds a probably a 280 pound dirt bike and dirt bike carrier. If carry only light weight bikes you could get a hitch adaptor to raise up your bike carrier to get better ground clearance id they hung too low. The OEM Subaru hitch and the aftermarket version that puts the receiver higher on the bumper did not have a design I thought was was very structurally sound for hauling a dirt bike but it would be fine for MBs.
