Replacement Bearings And Seals For A CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer CE48870

Updated 05/08/2026 | Published 05/06/2026

Question:

I bought a CE Smith Model 48870 trailer 2 years ago. I would like to buy a back up set of bearings and seals. What part number applies to the bearings and hubs for this trailer? It has only been used twice and been in the water once. How often should the bearings be packed for minimal use as in my case?

Hi Michael!

The CE Smith Multi Sport Plus Boat and Kayak Trailer w/ Bunks - 12" Wheels - 14' Boat - 800 lbs # CE48870 uses the fairly standard and easy to find # L44649 bearing (inner and outer) and # RG06-010 seals. With that said, you can either use just the bearings, or we do actually have the CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly w/ Carrying Case for 2,700-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # CE13311.

This includes the hub as well as the pre-greased bearings already installed, so it does make the process of replacing one a lot easier. It is more expensive than just bearings, but still figured I would mention it.

As to how often you should be repacking your bearings, the standard recommendation is once a year or every 12k miles. If you are storing your trailer inside, you could probably stretch that to every other year though. Especially if you are only loading in freshwater.

What kind of boat are you carrying?
