Compatibility of Grease on CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly
Updated 02/16/2022 | Published 02/08/2022 >
Question:
I read about the grease type used on the CE Smith hubs but Im not sure its compatable with my StarBrite NGIL #2 Marine Wheel Bearing Grease. If not, will flushing with my grease remove enough of the LMX Red grease you use to avoid contamination? If so, about what amount would do? Thanks

Expert Reply:
From what I have found, the StarBrite Marine Grease you are talking about has a Lithium Complex base type. The grease used in the CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly w/ Carrying Case for 2,700-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # CE13311 is a Calcium Sulfonate Complex base type. Based on this information the two are compatible so you will not have any issues using them together.
