Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look together at this Dexter Vault hybrid lubrication system for your Trailer Buddy axles. Now, this is going to fit the 1.98 inch hubs and 2,500 pound, 3,200 pound, and 3,500 pound Trailer Buddy axles as you can see there on your screen. And as you no doubt know, the Vault system by Dexter uses a semi-fluid oil in a pressurized chamber to give you the ultimate in wheel bearing lubrication and protection. The sealed chamber means nothing gets in or out, and as the bearing temperatures rise during towing, the hybrid oil thins out to replenish bearings with lubricant and help dissipate that heat.

So, this kit is going to include everything that you see here. You're going to get these two Trailer Buddy Vault assemblies and then the two O-rings that you see right in front of those assemblies. And then, you're going to get one Vault lube tube, one Vault installation tool, a grease fitting, and Loctite. I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. It looks like it might be an old o-ring from a Dexter Vault like the Dexter Vault Hybrid Lubrication System for 2,500-lb to 3,500-lb Trailer Buddy Axles # DX52UR, do you know if that was previously on there? What kind of trailer is this on? I cannot see the full Spindle in the picture you sent, is it a straight spindle with both L44649? If so you could order Complete Bearing Kit with L44649...

Where Does O-Ring of Dexter Vault Kit # DX52UR Go
The O-rings of the # DX52UR goes between the covers and the hub and the zerk fitting is a replacement if needed. We don't have ability to make a video for this quite yet though.

Troubleshooting a Dexter Vault Hub that Has Popped Out Slightly
Hey Steve, thanks for the pictures. That's normal. The Dexter vault hubs popping out slightly like that shows the system is pressurized. It'll pop out all the way if there's a leak or a problem. I would check the other one though. It looks like it's leaking at the pilot hole but I don't know how long that grease has been there. I recommend wiping off the grease and seeing if it leaks out again. If it does you'll most likely want to replace that axles vault kit. We have four options based...

Hey Tracy thanks for the information. I wasn't able to get anything off of that serial number you gave me though. If you could pull one of your hubs and send me the part numbers stamped on the sides of the bearings I'll be able to track down some replacement options for you. What are you trying to replace your vault hubs with and what lug nut pattern do your wheels have? Additionally, we have replacement kits for the Vault style hubs, but it really depends on what you're needing to...

Hey Chad, we do have Dexter Vault kits like it sounds like you are looking for but it comes down to what capacity axle you have to determine which kit you need. # DX52UR is for 2500 to 3500 lb axles # DX23ER is for 4200 to 5200 lb axles # DX83ER is for 6k axles # DX73ER is for 7k axles. Since you mentioned 1.98 inch diameter its very likely what you need is the part # DX52UR for 3,500 lb axles.
