Aftermarket Brake Controller for 2026 Ford F-450

Question:
Good morning, We have a 2026 Ford F450 at our facility that does not have a factory trailer break controller, but it does have a trailer plug module. The customer wants an aftermarket trailer break controller installed and we are wondering what controller to use and how to wire it so it does not throw codes through the trailer module. Any info would be appreciated. thank you.

Hey Jason! For your 2026 Ford F-450 I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED67CR. This comes with a custom wiring harness that will plug into the factory brake controller port under the dash. The Liberty is simple, reliable, and doesn't take up space in the cab.
However, we can't guarantee that any of the aftermarket brake controllers will be error free following installation. I would expect to have to take it to your local dealer and have them flash the computer to remove any errors. This isn't always the case, but more often then not it is required on trucks like your F-450.
What are you towing?

I installed mine into my 2018 F150 in roughly 30 minutes..the plug and play Ford specific plug is priceless, the time saved and the fitment is extremely nice. The brake control works flawlessly. 100% recommended.

I installed the Redarc tow pro Liberty on my 2025 ranger. I also have the factory tow package without the brake controller. Installation was easy, plug and play. It works well and no codes. I appreciate that the control knob blends in with the rest of the truck controls and there is nothing to bump my knees on like some other controllers I’ve had in my old truck.
