Question:
I have a 1997 25 ft Jayco Bunkhouse fifth wheel. It has 1 3/4 double eye leaf springs with the standard equalizers on it. I am looking to do a suspension upgrade with upgrades equalizers, heavy duty shackle plates and wet bolts. What are my options? Thanks in advance. Joe

Hey Joe, the first thing to do is determine what size equalizers you have so that we can figure out which cushioned equalizers would fit. I would need the distance between the left and right mounting holes as well as the vertical height of the equalizer.
For the shackles I would need to know the distance between the hole centers of those as well.

Existing equalizer Dexter PN 13-104-02. Bolt spacing 5 3/4" center to center left to right. Approximately 2" bolt spacing center to center high. Overall height of equalizer 3 1/8". Shackles have 2 1/4" center to center bolt spacing. Overall length 3" Thanks for your help!!

I purchased and installed a Dexter Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem-Axle Trailers on my car hauler. The kit that they provided was complete and easy to install. I used and ball joint press to remove the old bolts that were pressed into the frame and I used it again to install the new wet bolts. I have put a couple thousand miles on the new suspension with no problems and I like the confidence I have gained knowing I can lubricate the critical wear points each season.

Joe B ... Ordered an installed my Dexter heavy duty kit for my Grand Design Imagine 2150RB travel trailer. I did the install myself with the help of my wife. Everything I purchased came from etrailer.com. the parts were great and the instruction were very good. If you plan to purchase the upgrade with the greaseable bolts, just make sure each of the holes on the new bushings are driven in with the holes horizontally to the ground. Do not drive the the bushings in with the holes on top and bottom. These hole allow grease to keep these pivot points lubricated... Other that that, everything works so much better now. The kit I used was for an equipment trailer and I have only used it once since the installation. However if you are updating the suspension on an RV I would recommend something more like the Cree 3000 kit with wet bolts. I run this on my RV and it has held up well and improved the ride over the standard kit that you are looking at. Best regards
