Is There Trimming Required to Install etrailer Base Plate Kit # e96GV on 2025 Ford Maverick

Updated 12/09/2025 | Published 11/26/2025

Question:

A couple of questions…. This base plate appears to be involve one of the least destructive installs that I have seen from either Roadmaster, Blue Ox or Demco. Is my interpretation accurate? It appears that I just have 3 rows of shutters removed and leaving off the air dam….no other cutting The pictures appear to depict two different models….the first picture looks like the Demco model while all the others have a straight cross bar. Will this model work with the ACC sensor?

Hey Michael, the correct picture of the etrailer base plate kit part # e96GV is the first picture which closely resembles the Demco.

I would agree this install requires the least amount of vehicle modification but there is some trimming required. Some of the air cooler wings do get trimmed which you can see in step 10 of the attached instructions.

Hey Michael, how did things go with the etrailer base plate kit after checking the trimming steps in the instructions? It’d be great to hear if the small amount of trimming worked out as expected. Your feedback could help others looking for a less invasive setup.

@JamesonC I have not pulled the trigger on this. I am waiting to see if Demco/etrailer modify their tow bars to eliminate the need to mess with the ACC mount or at least update the instructions to see how extensive the ACC modification is. I agree with your assessment, the trimming is minimal and certainly not like the Blue Ox and Roadmaster.
