Is Demco Stay IN Play DUO Inline Air Pressure Regulator Needed For 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid

Updated 05/25/2026 | Published 03/03/2026

Question:

I have an RV with hydraulic brakes and will be using the demco duo stay in play in a 2025 maverick hybrid. Do I need this part? The install manual says it is optional. The e-trailer install video for the duo on a 2025 maverick does not mention needing it. Thanks!

Hello again, Dan. Thanks for writing in. The Demco Stay IN Play DUO Inline Air Pressure Regulator # DM88UV will not be needed for your 2025 Maverick Hybrid. You can still install one to lessen the braking pressure if it seems too harsh, but it isn't a requirement for the braking system to operate on that vehicle.

Dan, I have a 2025 Maverick Hybrid and installed the Demco Stay in Play Duo for hydraulic Brakes. I had to call Demco with a couple install questions and they strongly suggested I purchase the Air Pressure Regulator which l am glad I did. Very simple to install and will provide the fine tuning of the braking system much more than if you were without it. I’d highly recommend you add it to your Maverick Stay in Play Duo braking system.

Tar, I just completed the DUO install on my 2022 Mav Lariat. I have not taken the road test as of this message and have a question regarding the Air Pressure Reg which I also ordered and installed after conversation with Demco CS. My question for you, The Regulator comes pre-set at 40psi. Did you find it necessary to make any adjustments to the valve from that pre-set position? And secondly, how did you know where adjustment(s) were needed, at the G-Force knob or at the Pressure Regulator in the fine tuning of the system? Thanks for your comments and please provide any additional insights you may have to offer regarding the system, set-up and use. R

Roger, I only have made adjustments at the pressure regulator knob in the engine bay. I have a longer gravel drive between my house and shop and used that as my testing road. I would adjust the pressure regulator until my Maverick tires would not be turning when I applied the RV brakes. Can’t recall if that was increasing or decreasing the air pressure tho. Then I would tow it on a hard service road and make sure I could feel the braking of the Maverick but also making sure they were not locking up. The nice thing about this setup is that the duo brake monitoring box that you mount on the dash of your RV lights up when the braking is applied on the Maverick toad so it gives you a peace of mind that when you are braking that the brakes on toad are ON and working when they should be (red lights illuminating) and no lights when not applying the brakes verifying the brakes are not on while just driving. Hope this helps.
