Question:

What’s the real difference between the HomePlow series and the WingMan?

Greg, great question. The HomePlows # ME28FR and # ME53FR are for residential or light-duty use - 22" tall blades, lighter frames, and smaller hydraulic pumps. The HomePlow # ME88FR is the same as those, aside from only having an 18" tall blade. The WingMan # ME35FR steps up to 26" tall military-grade steel blade, dual hydraulics, and integrated LED lights for heavy daily work.

Another difference is the controller setup. The # ME88FR is budget friendly and just comes with a wireless controller to move it up and down (auto-angling). The # ME28FR comes with a wired controller for up and down movement (auto-angling) and it has an optional wireless controller add-on sold separately. The other two, the # ME53FR and # ME35FR, both come with the higher end power angling controller with angle adjustability on the fly instead of auto-angling.

If you’ll be plowing a few properties a week, WingMan’s worth the bump. For your own driveway, a HomePlow will do just fine. What kind of truck are you running?

That clears it up, thanks. Is the 18-inch blade on the ME88FR noticeably less capable than the 22-inch?

@Greg Yes a bit. The shorter blade moves a bit less volume per pass. The 18-inch # ME88FR is great for driveways or light snow, but the 22-inch blades on the # ME28FR and # ME53FR handle deeper accumulations and stack snow higher without spill-over.

Does the WingMan’s LED lighting need to be wired separately?

@Andy No extra wiring, Andy; the WingMan plugs into the supplied harness and ties into your truck’s headlight and turn-signal circuits automatically. Once you connect the plow, the system switches over to the plow lights.
