Question:

Hello, i have a 2021 ford f 150 I’m looking to setup to flat tow. I like the invisible e trailer base plate. Can you please let me know what else you’d recommend with this plate? Can you also send me the installation for the wiring harness? I’m just a little confused how that works. Do i need a battery disconnect? Do i have to trickle charge the battery while towing?

Hey Aj, you came to the right place. I can help with all of that. I will start with a list of parts I recommend for flat towing your F150, followed by a few important notes. Here is what I recommend:

- etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,500 lbs # e94ZR

- Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights - 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord # RM38FR

- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251

- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400

That will cover all the main components. You may end up needing a drop hitch like part # BLU28XR to compensate for any height differences between the base plate arms and the hitch on your RV. Any difference of more than 3" will require a drop hitch. Keep in mind the tow bar has 2" of rise or drop built into the shank.

I also suggest you get a cover # e76FV and a hitch lock # e98882 to protect your tow bar.

You do not need to disconnect the battery. A charge line is required.

The # RM38FR wiring kit I recommended is for vehicles with LED bulbs. If you have incandescent bulbs use part # RM26FR instead.
