Question:
I would like to add a trailer hitch to my 2018 Toyota Highlander Limited. I plan to trailer a golf cart mostly. I have never had a hitch and am not knowledgeable of the process. I watched your video. Would you make a recommendation of the type of hitch and any other accessories I should purchase wiring harness, that stabilization pin, etc? Thank you, Shannon Leonard

Hey Shannon,
I can absolutely get you set up and ready to tow! The great thing about the hitch for your Toyota is that it is a no drill installation. Your vehicle already has pre drilled holes ready for a hitch. I recommend the etrailer # e98844 class 3 hitch. It has a 6,000lb towing capacity which is plenty for a trailer with a golf cart on it. We have a video installing it on a 2018 Highlander as well which I will attach below. That is going to show you step by step how this installs for you.
For a wiring harness I recommend # 118449, a Tekonsha 4 pole flat harness. This is a plug and play installation that requires no splicing and gives you a 4 flat connection which is commonly used on most smaller trailers. I have attached a installation video for you on that part as well.
You will need a ball mount to hook up to the trailer. We do have those and I am happy to get you a recommendation. I would just need to know what size ball you need, or what size coupler is on the trailer to get you the right one. Any anti rattle pin is not really necessary when towing but more of a luxury if you notice a lot of movement or noise when towing. That is something you can typically add on afterwards if you notice you could use it. If that is something you are interested in I recommend the # 63232 for your setup.
Let me know if there is anything you have already, or what size ball you would need to tow and I can get that together for you as well.
