Question:

The Draw-Tite website say their 41948 trailer hitch fits my 2024 Ram 1500 Laramie, but your website says it does not. Based on the installation instructions, it looks like it would fit because it seems to be the only hitch that will fit over the rear cross member. Why do you say it will not fit?

Hello Jeff, thanks for reaching out. I double checked the Draw-Tite website and it looks like their listing is the same as ours. The # 41948 hitch will only fit the 2024 Ram 1500 Classic. If your Ram is the Laramie and not the Classic model, you will need a different hitch. Here are your options:

- TorkLift SuperHitch Hero Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - Dual 2" Receivers # TL37BR (fits short bed models without a factory hitch)

- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V XD - 2" # C15005 (fits all bed sizes and only for models with a factory hitch)

- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # DT37MR (fits models with class 3 tow bumper only)

My new to me 2024 Ram 1500 is not the Classic and has a bed length of 5'7". It currently has what I guess is called a factory bumper hitch with a Curt Receiver #13419 installed. This set up has a max towing weight of 6,000 lbs and does not support a weight distribution hitch as I understand it. My existing travel trailer weighs 5,000 lbs dry, but would exceed 6,000 if fully loaded including water. It also has a weight distribution hitch. Some websites that say a certain hitch will fit my rig clearly would not due to the large rear cross member that is part of the factory installed bumper hitch. I would not want to remove tis cross member to install a new hitch. So is there a Class 5 hitch will do the job?

@JeffW Based on my research, the Curt # C15005 will fit models with the factory tow bumper, as long as the current hitch/crossmember is removed. According to Curt it fits all models with or without the bumper hitch or factory hitch as long as it is removed. It has a 15,000 lb towing capacity and 1,700 lb tongue weight capacity. Just make sure you do not exceed the towing capacity of your truck (it sounds like you are good there).
