What Is The Bike Weight Capacity Of The Loading Ramp for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack Y39VR?

Updated 10/28/2025 | Published 03/10/2025

Question:

What is the bike weight this ramp can hold ? Have a friend who owns an Lectric bike, and doesn’t like to always take the battery out before hauling. Will the ramp hold that bike?

Hello Trina, that is a good question. The maximum bike weight for the # Y39VR ramp would be 70 lbs. The ramp capacity will be the same as the bike rack capacity. In this case the ramp is for the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y67VR, and this rack has a weight capacity of 70 lbs per bike. So the ramp rating will be the same.

I am not sure what model of Lectric bike your friend has, but to my knowledge most of the Lectric bikes are no more than 50-60 lbs. As long as their bike weighs less than 70 lbs the ramp will hold it just fine. Also keeping in mind the ramp generally would not be fully supporting the full weight of the bike all at once. Just one wheel at a time.

I hope this helps. Leave a reply below. If you have any comments or questions you can be sure I will get back to you.

Hey Trina, how did things go with the Yakima StageTwo ramp and your friend’s Lectric bike? Was the 70‑lb capacity enough to handle the bike without removing the battery? Your update could make it easier for others hauling heavier e‑bikes.

@JesseM, we both ended up going with the Thule epos. It is a lighter rack to lift, and it too an handle the heavier bikes

@Trina Oh nice! Good choice. That rack is a bit more on the expensive side but it works with virtually any style of bike and is super versatile. I am sure it will serve you well for years to come! Feel free to come back anytime you need anything!
