E-bikes, cruisers, or gear-heavy rides all fit with confidence. The Thule Epos carries up to 140 lbs total, or 75 lbs for a single bike, giving you the strength needed for today’s electric setups. Telescoping masts with padded, rotating heads grab the rear wheel or frame firmly, so carbon tubes, fenders, and custom paint jobs ride scratch-free. With pivoting wheel straps and grooved trays, it handles wheelbases up to 53-1/8" and tires up to 3-3/16" wide, with optional straps for fat tires.

Reaching the cargo area mid-trip doesn’t have to mean removing bikes. The front-mounted, spring-loaded foot pedal lets the rack tilt down smoothly—even while loaded. You can hold the rack steady with both hands instead of fumbling behind frames and wheels. It’s a small detail that makes stops simpler whether you’re hauling groceries or trail gear.

No tools, no confusion. The Epos snaps into your 1-1/4" or 2" hitch using a hand-tightening lever. As you crank it snug, an internal wedge expands to take play out of the connection, keeping the rack solid and rattle-free. When the trip’s done, integrated wheels and a handle let you roll the 38.1-lb rack to storage instead of carrying it.

The Epos locks both your bikes and the rack itself. Locks on the mast heads keep ratchet straps from releasing, while a lock on the hitch lever stops the rack from being removed. All locks share the same key, and the system is ready for additional keyed-alike Thule gear if you want everything to match.

When space is tight, the trays fold up and the masts telescope down to shrink the rack to 27-3/16" tallx10-5/8" widex29-1/2" deep. Dual reflectors help it stay visible at night, while durable aluminum and ABS construction with a black powder coat resists corrosion season after season.

I appreciate the honest take! I'm with you on that point David - It would be super nice in those scenarios where you're in tight spaces especially! We actually have Thule here on campus this week - I might bring up your feedback and just let them know the want is out there :)
