Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Loading Ramp for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack

Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Yakima StageTwo Loading Ramp for your bike racks. So this is going to make it much easier for you to load your heavy bikes onto your Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack. Will also make it easier to pick those bikes off. Basically the way this works, you can see we've got those two tabs there on the end.

Those are going to insert into the slot there on end of your bike tray, where arrows pointing. That's going to give you a nice sturdy connection to ensure that it's gonna stay in place as you load the bikes up. So that you can move your bikes up the ramp rather than having to pick them up and set them on the ramp. You'll be able to kind of just ramp them up. Now, this is going to work for the Yakima StageTwo Bike Racks that you see on the screen there.

So, will work with the two bike rack that fits into your inch and a quarter receiver tube. Will also work with the two bike rack that fits into your two inch receiver tube. Both the black and gray models. And it will also work with the four bike rack that fits into your two inch receiver tube. Again, both the black and gray models.

So, a very easy to get this installed and then it is going to kinda compact itself for storage. So to do that, we're just going to flip it over. You can see we've got these two hand nuts that are tightened to here. So we'll undo those. That will allow us to lift up the two pieces and then we'll slide the one under until we get to the other side here and then we attach those nuts.

Like so. Now, in my opinion, this isn't necessarily the most convenient way of doing this. Most convenient design, I guess. I don't know of a better way of doing it. But it is definitely gonna make it a very secure connection for you, so you don't have to worry about the two pieces coming apart as you're loading your bike up. But it does make this a much smaller length for you, so you can very easily store this in your vehicle storage compartment. So when we had it fully extended, we we're out at 65 and a quarter of an inch long. Now, when we have it retracted like this, it's just gonna be 38 and three quarters of an inch long. So definitely making it much more convenient for you to store in your vehicle. And then again, just undo those tabs. Pull it out. Get it up. Align with the right holes to get your bikes loaded up in place. This does have an aluminum construction. So it is gonna be very lightweight and yet very durable. So you won't have to worry about rust and corrosion and that sort of thing. This comes in just under four pounds. It's 3.92 pounds. So definitely not going to be very strenuous to get this hooked up to your bike racks, so that you can load those bikes. So very, very simple to install. And make it easier for you to get those bikes in place. This also comes with a limited lifetime warranty. So, if you we're to have any problems with it, you're more than welcome to reach out to us here at etrailer.com. We're always happy to work with our customers to make sure you're getting good quality products and having a good experience. So, if you do have that Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack, you're wanting to take it a little bit easier for yourself to get your bike loaded in place. If you've got a really heavy bike and you don't like lifting up and this is gonna be a great option for you. Like I said, very easy to get those two pieces put together. This end will be on the ground. So it's gonna sit more flush for you. And then the other end is going to attach to your bike rack so you have that nice gentle angle to ramp those bikes up onto the rack. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

Very sturdy and well made. It works well and certainly makes putting a 60 lb e-bike on the elevated rack solo a cinch. A little pricy but good quality isn't cheap.

by:

Just what I was expecting. Good speedy service from you. Thanks.

by:

I have had Thule, Hollywood, and Saris and the Yakima is the easiest , lightest and holds the bike the best. The connection to the hitch is very firm. The latches that hold the tires and the frame are easy and quick to place on. The ramp makes even a heavy bike easy to get on.

by:

No more lifting heavy bikes.

by:

UPS lost my first order so when I called etrailer back they shipped out a replacement with ni issues.

by:

Need to adapt to the rack I am using it on. Good quality and quick shipping.

by:

An amazing product, sturdy, is easy install, rides great and most of all I feel safe having my bikes attached to the rack!

by:

delivery prompt..these are to aid in balancing rv, and have yet to be used, but certainly going with us on next trip as construction, stackability and quality make these an easy choice.

  • What Is The Bike Weight Capacity Of The Loading Ramp for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack Y39VR?
Hello Trina, that is a good question. The maximum bike weight for the # Y39VR ramp would be 70 lbs. The ramp capacity will be the same as the bike rack capacity. In this case the ramp is for the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y67VR, and this rack has a weight capacity of 70 lbs per bike. So the ramp rating will be the same. I am not sure what model of Lectric bike your friend has, but to my knowledge most of the Lectric bikes are no more than 50-60 lbs. As long as their bike weighs less...

  • Availability of System Like Yakima EXO Allowing Easy Loading of E-Bikes
Hey Dave; what features of the Yakima EXO do you want to have? If you want the EXO for its other configurations you could still get the # Y54ZR. The TopShelf is removable so you could mount the bike rack on the lower part of the carrier when you need it and use the other attachments depending on your needs. If you're wanting to use this as is with the bike rack sitting up top there is no way around lifting the bikes up there. Also, it has a capacity of 40 lbs per bike on the TopShelf...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for 2019 Porsche Cayenne
Hey David! As long as your 2019 Porsche Cayenne is the SUV model, and not a GT, you can use the Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver # SH37FR (or # SH37FRT if you plan to use it for towing). This has a bolt-on installation and a removable receiver for a completely hidden design. I'm assuming you want a hitch mounted bike rack since you asked for a hitch. Is that correct? Trunk mounted bike racks like the # TH910XT you looked at aren't a fit for your Porsche so there really isn't an option....

  • Can I Use The Yakima OnRamp LX to Carry My Pinarello Dyodo T700 and Gazelle Arroyo C5 Elite
Thanks for your reaching out, Don! The rack and hitch combination you're looking at will in fact work on your Mini Cooper. However, there is a but here. While the Yakima OnRamp LX part # Y28DJ will be able to work on the EcoHitch part # EH47FR as well as be able to carry your bikes, it may not be the best option for your bikes, mainly your carbon fiber bike. Most carbon fiber bikes are not recommended to be used on a bike rack where the rack would be making contact with the frame like...

  • Recommended E-Bike Bike Rack For Vehicles, A Motorhome, And A 5th Wheel Trailer
Hey Steve, I recommend the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack - Black # Y47VR or Gray # Y87VR. It is rated for use on all vehicles, fifth wheels, travel trailers, motorhomes, and flat towed vehicles. When on vehicles it has a 70lb per bike rating and when on an RV a 60lb per bike rating. The wheel cradles can fit tires up to 3.25" wide with up to a 52" maximum wheelbase. The loading ramp for this rack is sold separately with part # Y39VR. I've attached a short video below where AJ will go over...

  • Recommended 4-Bike Bike Rack for Gravel Bikes
Hey Brad! When you say upright I'm assuming you mean sitting up on a platform rack. If that is correct, I recommend the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 4 Bikes # Y88TD. This bike rack has a weight capacity of 70 lbs per bike on the inner two positions and 40 lbs per bike on the outer two positions. Since you don't have e-bikes that should be plenty. It can also accommodate tires up to 5" wide. To make loading and unloading easy you can add the Loading Ramp for Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack...

  • Will Draw-Tite Hitch Fit a 2021 Porsche Macan S Model
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75940 will fit your 2021 Porsche Macan S. It looks like Draw-Tite recently (December 2021) updated their fit list to include the 2021 model and if you check out the attached clip from the linked instructions you can see that there are provisions for cutting the fascia on the S model. If you are planning on towing with this vehicle then you need wiring like the ZCI Wiring Kit # 119250KIT and a ball mount kit like part # 989900. If the purpose...

Yes, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT22MR will fit your 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV. This will allow you to carry your 2 e-bikes using a bike rack like the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack # Y47VR. This particular rack is rated to carry up to two 70lb e-bikes. The e-bikes can be easily loaded using a Ramp # Y39VR which at full extension is 65-1/4" tall. • Why Is The RV Per Bike Weight Capacity Lower For The Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack
The suspension of an RV is much less sophisticated than a standard vehicle so it places more stress on the Yakima OnRamp # Y36FR. Because of the additional wear and tear on the bike rack testing has shown that adding more than 40lbs can damage the rack, leading to damage of the e-bikes. The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y47VR is rated for RV use and has a 60lb per bike capacity when used on an RV. It mounts via the wheels using a strap and ratcheting arm so if you have front...

  • How to Install Yakima StageTwo and Ramp for Loading Heavy e-Bike
The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # Y47VR is a wonderful new option from Yakima that can handle up to 2 bikes weighing 60 lbs each and you can definitely get the Loading Ramp # Y39VR to make loading/unloading much easier. We currently (March 2022) don't have a video of these 2 parts together but I'm linking the instructions for the ramp as well as a clip for you to check out. Basically there is a slit at the rear-tire-end of each tray that the hooks of this ramp fit into and keep...

  • Can Discontinued Yakima DR Tray Bike Rack Be Used With A Ramp?
The now discontinued Yakima DR tray bike rack you have is not compatible with a ramp, and cannot use a ramp due to having no way for one to attach. If you're handy you can probably DIY something with materials from a local hardware store, but if not the only way to use a ramp would be replacing the rack completely with a newer model like the StageTwo # Y47VR which can use a ramp # Y39VR.

  • What is the Best Way to Carry Bikes with a 2021 Tesla Model 3
The absolute best way to carry bikes on any vehicle is with a hitch because you'll have access to more bike rack options, the bike racks will be easier to install, and you'll have an easier time loading up your bikes on a hitch rack as opposed to on your roof or on a trunk mount option. For your 2021 Tesla Model 3 I recommend installing the Stealth Hitches trailer hitch which comes as part # 391TES317 if you plan on only using it for a bike rack, or the part # 391TES317T which includes...

Instead, I recommend checking out the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y87VR.
