Wiring for Flat Towing 2023 Ford Maverick

Updated 02/20/2025 | Published 02/17/2025

Question:

Will this Demco Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Kit DM66VR work with my 2023 Ford Maverick Hybrid? I also dont have the connector on my Maverick or the cable to connect to my motorhomes 7 pin. Any suggestions on what I need there?

Hey Brad! You can use the Demco # DM66VR on your 2023 Ford Maverick. However, I recommend the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 instead. This comes with an auto reset breaker so you don't have to worry about replacing a fuse if the fuse blows.

For wiring you can use the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267. This comes with the connector along with the adapter cord to connect to your motorhome. Do you already have a base plate kit, tow bar, and brake system? If not, I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM97RR

-Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522

-Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645

-Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System # SM99251 (or # DM86VR with wireless monitor)

-Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 (required for brake system)

You may also need a high-low adapter to keep your setup level. I have attached a help article below which explains how to measure, along with a link to all of our available adapters.

Looks like all I'll need at this point is the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord. I already have the Roadmaster base plate and tow bar. Also, I'm currently using the NSA ReadyBrake™ Towed Vehicle Supplemental Brake System. Thanks for your help Robin!
