Question:
I have a falcon 2 tow bar, and 1976 jeep cj5 with a rugged ridge xd modular bumper. I am trying to find a way to flat tow. Is there some kind of adapter that will fit that bumper?

Oh there definitely is Chris! Since you have a Rugged Ridge XD Modular Bumper you can use the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit item # 1437-3. Since your Jeep is older I will ask you to confirm the bolt spacing on your bumper. The mounting holes are spaced 5-3/16" apart on center horizontally and 2-1/2" apart on center vertically.
I attached a picture showing these measurements for you so you can verify it'll work. If your dimensions don't match up we still have an option to use your bumper. An alternative solution is to use the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts # RM-035 3/4" thick or item # RM-035-1 if your d-rings are 1" thick.
Both of these solutions will work with the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar item # RM-520.
Here are the rest of the parts you will need to flat tow your 1976 Jeep CJ-5:
Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit item # RM-15267
Supplemental Braking System - Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System item # BLU37TR
High Low Adapter - The tow bar needs to be within 3" of level. If you measure the height of the inside top of the hitch receiver tube on your RV, and the height difference is more than 3 inches above/below the base plate tab height, you'll need a high/low adapter. I have linked a FAQ article that explains all this in more detail along with our selection of adapters.

Hey Chris, did the Roadmaster base plate or one of the D-ring adapters end up fitting your Rugged Ridge bumper? Once you confirmed the bolt spacing, I’m curious which setup worked best for flat towing your CJ5. Your update could make it easier for others working with older Jeeps.
