Will a Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner Fit the Some Cutout as a Dometic AC?

Updated 08/08/2025 | Published 06/07/2025

Question:

Will the Sutton a/c 18,000 btu fit where a domestic ducted unit is on a 2020 fuel 287 toy hauler

Hey Neil. The 18,000 Btu Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner item # LC34DX fits a 14-1/4" x 14-1/4" cutout which is pretty standard on RV's. If you meant to write Dometic instead of domestic then yes it'll fit in your existing cutout.

To swap out a Dometic AC with one of the new Furrion Chill Cube units, you'll have to swap out your air distribution box because anything made before 2025 isn't compatible anymore due to the new R32 refrigerant. Since you have a ducted system you will want the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w Air Distribution Box item # FR39TD.

If your RV has a furnace you'll have to install the Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ Air Distribution Box item # FR49TD, which includes the thermostat you'll need to control your furnace.

What kind of AC system do you currently have and does it have an air distribution box? You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Jerred, I currently have Dometic Penguin II's. in a 2013 Entegra Anthem. So not only is it a Ducted system..The two front ACs are hidden by oval mirrors on the ceiling. So wondering about thermostats. I've heard the Cielo breeze Max is a good possibility. Also whats the deal with late july or August for the Cube Ducted ADBs? I also have Aqua Hot and one of my Penquin II has a heat pump in it. William

@William We have a couple multi zone systems in stock like the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR84FJ but all the Furrion systems require an air box. Do you have an air distribution box behind those mirrors? We don't sell the Cielo breeze Max, so I don't have any information on it.

@JerredH Yes it has 2 adb behind the mirrors. Have to take down mirrors to clean filters.

@William Ok, that's good. You can add heat strips to one or both of the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System item # FR84FJ using the Furrion Heat Strip Add-On for Furrion Air Conditioner - Electric item # FR27PR. These are sold individually and we do not have an option with a heat pump.

Have 2005 American Heritage with three Coleman penguins with ducted system.. Looking to replace one with a Furrion. It also has an aqua hot system that shares one thermostat for both a/c and heat. The control wire(s) are 6 conductor phone cable. Was hoping by now there is a solution to add the Furrion to older existing systems. If not, what is the solution? Thank you, Dennis

@DennisJ It's the complete opposite actually. The old 6 conductor phone cable doesn't work with the older Furrion Chill HE systems or the new R32 models like the Chill Cube item # FR39TD. The only solution I have for you is to replace one of your ducted Penguin setups with the Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Air Distribution Box item # FR39TD in black or item # FR99TD in white. These systems are controlled by the air distribution box or the included remote.

Jerred I am thinking about replacing my current Dometic AC units on my 2006 Fleetwood Expedition with the 18K Chill cube. I understand that there is currently not any heat strips available for this but will be in the future. My RV has two gas furnaces that I would need to control. Is there a multi zone thermostat that will control the chill cube (future heat strips) and my two gas furnaces? Thank You I enjoy shopping with Etrailer

@RoyL At this time there are no multi-zone setups for the Furrion Chill Cubes. You would need to have two entirely independent systems with two thermostats. The systems that are capable of controlling an existing furnace are only available as ducted options currently. I have listed them below: Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ ADB, Thermostat - Ducted - White item # FR69TD Furrion Chill Cube RV AC w/ ADB, Thermostat - Ducted - Black item # FR49TD I do not have any information about what systems will be coming out in the future or any kind of timeline.

@RoyL Yes, they will indeed work! You'll just have separate systems that are controlled individually.
