Updated 11/27/2024 | Published 11/20/2024

Question:

Hello. What product do I need to keep my towed vehicle battery charged while flat towing? I use a wireless taillight set up on the towed vehicle. I just need something coming off my RV chassis battery to the towed vehicle. Let me know and thanks

Hello Steve, thanks for reaching out. What I recommend for you is the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. This will allow you to keep your towed vehicles battery charged from the RV battery. The charge line should be run thru a 6-pin plug and for that I recommend part # BX88206 which comes with a 6-pin socket and coiled cable for connecting to your RV. The video I linked below will show you a more in depth look at the charge line kit. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

But my question is shouldn't it have some inline diode? When I shut the RV off, what prevents the 12volt current from my towed vehicle feeding back to the RV?

@SteveW Generally back feed isn't an issue with these but if you want to prevent any back feed you can use a Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode part # RM-690.
