Can Removable Arms be Used on Base Plate Kit When Flat Towing

Question:

Previous car - 2013 jeep wrangler, I bough a base plate and tow bar/arms combo. I have replace that jeep either way a j2022 jeep gladiator.. I left the base plate with wrangler and buying new base plate for the gladiator and using the same tow/ arms bought previously, will they work with a new base plate ? etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Part Number: e98948

Hey Omar, the removable arms of the base plate kits we offer are not able to be reused on a new vehicle as they are all designed very specifically to fit the exact base plate they were made for. There are fit variations between them even on exact same part numbers. So you would need a new base plate kit altogether like the etrailer part # e98948 that you referenced. Do you have a tow bar already?

I need to check which combination a bought from you about a year ago so I can figure out a plate that will fit a jeep gladiator to my the arms I bought from you - etrailer… I need to find that info.

@OmarC Omar I bought that base plate you referenced. Installed it my self over a weekend on my 2025 gladiator. It is important to adjust the height on your tow vehicle so the toe bar is level. I am very pleased with the ease of installation and the performance. feel free to contact me if you have questions.

I used the invisible base plate plate made for a 2024 Jeep Wrangler which I believe would be the same for your Jeep Gladiator. It comes with the removable arms for this specific base plate and works very well. When the arms are removed, you barely even notice there is a tow bar under the splash guard. It takes some patience to install, but is not that difficult. You just have to take your time when you cut out the space in the plastic splash guard. The installation videos provided by Etrailer are very accurate and easy to follow.

Omar, I put a new etrailer base plate on my 2023 Gladiator and am towing it with Blue Ox system I already own. The twist-on stubs that go into the base plate are made to fit my blue ox but I don’t remember if they are the standard stubs or if I had to order them specifically to fit the blue ox. All works great though. Larry

I installed on my 2026 jeep rubicon ann etrailer base plate and it works great. I had a roadmaster night hawk that I keep from my previous 2019 rubicon. I purchased the adapter kit from etrailer that matches the etrailer base plate. So far working fine.
