Weight Of The B&W Companion OEM # BWRVK3715 Base And Head

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/17/2024

Question:

BWRVK3715 looks to be the right hitch for my new 2025 GMC 3500HD DRW Denali. Can you tell me the what the aprox. weight of the base and swivel hitch individually. Having trouble lifting my 20 yr old Reese combined unit. I like the ease of individually mounting each separate unit.

Hi Grant,

The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3715 would be a fit for a 2025 GMC Sierra 3500's puck system. The base # BWRVB3715 weighs 87lbs and the head # BWRVC3006 weighs 70lbs. This is designed for an 8' bed so if you have a short bed you'll want to switch to the slider base version # BWRVK3775 for more turning clearance so that the trailer won't come into contact with the cab of the truck.

The slider base # BWRVB3775 weighs quite a bit more at 181lbs so you would definitely want help moving this guy around.

If you have a engine hoist of strong enough framing to install a pulley you could use it along with the # BWRVXA3130 to lift the hitch in/out of your truck's bed so that you're not having to manhandle it.

Hey Grant, how did things go with the B&W Companion hitch for your new GMC 3500HD? Were the separate base and head weights manageable for you when mounting each piece? Your experience could help others looking for an easier way to handle their hitch setup.
