The Safe Load ball makes it simple to dial in your trailer before you ever hit the highway. Just hook up, check the built-in scale, and you’ll see your tongue weight right on the hitch. You can adjust your cargo until everything’s balanced and within safe limits without needing a separate weigh station. It’s fast, accurate, and gives you peace of mind that your load is ready for the miles ahead.
This setup is made for serious haulers. With a 30,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 7,500 lbs vertical load limit, it’s built to handle heavy equipment, livestock trailers, or big fifth wheel conversions. The 2-5/16" stainless steel ball locks securely into place with two included keys and stays solid under pressure. V19 and J2638 safety certifications back up its strength when you’re pulling your heaviest loads.
When the trailer’s unhooked, pop out the ball and chain anchors in minutes to clear your bed. The below-the-bed design keeps the surface open for normal use, while the included rubber cap keeps dirt out of the hitch hole. Everything stows neatly in the hard-sided case, so your gear is protected and ready for next time.
The stainless steel construction fights rust no matter what weather or terrain you tow through. The locking ball design ensures a tight fit in your gooseneck hitch so there’s no rattle or movement when towing over long hauls. With its precision build and quick setup, this kit gives you a reliable connection every time you line up under the trailer.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Weigh Safe Safe Load OEM Gooseneck Ball Hitch. Has a 30,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now this Safe Load OEM Gooseneck ball is a 2 5/16 diameter tow ball that's made of a nice high strength stainless steel with a single gauge here that'll show you the tongue weight of your load as soon as you connect your trailer to the ball. This kit is gonna include everything shown here on the table. It includes the gooseneck ball with the gauge, the two locking keys to lock the ball into place, two safety chain anchor pucks, a rubber cover, and a nice hard plastic carrying case.
Now this automatically provides a tongue weight measurement every time you couple your trailer. Basically, it'll let you know if your load needs to be adjusted before you start to tow. The safety chain anchors that are included are compatible with any OEM puck system, either the Ford, the Ram, Nissan, Toyota, GMC, or Chevy. We mentioned the gross trailer weight rating on this is 30,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight is 7,500 pounds.
Now, before this gooseneck hitch, gauging your trailer's tongue weight or pin load weight was always a hassle, 'cause you had to rely on inefficient bathroom scales, or you had to make a trip to the weigh station, or even purchase a separate tongue weight scale. But with this Weigh Safe built in scale, measuring your tongue weight is as easy as just coupling your trailer to your to neck hitch. Now we're talking about tongue weight. You might want to know what is tongue weight and why is it important. Well, tongue weight are also known as pin load weight, refers to the weight that the fully loaded trailer will exert downward on the back axle of your tow vehicle.
Tongue weight is typically 15% and should not exceed 25% of your gross trailer weight. So just to give you an example, a 10,000 pound trailer should have a tongue weight between 1,500 pounds and 2,500 pounds. And then you can adjust that tongue weight of the trailer by either removing or adding cargo or redistributing the load on the trailer. Thing you do wanna remember is tongue weight should not exceed the capacity of your tow vehicle, your hitch, or any of the towing components. Now, just to go through how to install this, what you want to do that has a lock on it.
So just pop off the cover, and there's your lock, the two keys that are included. You'll just put the key in there. And then once you put the key in there, just turn it a quarter of a turn, and you'll notice the lock body pops out. That means it's unlocked. And you'll notice the balls down here are loose. So when you go to install this, you'll drop this into the gooseneck hole. Once it's in the hole, you just push in it, and you'll notice that locks it and the balls are all locked in the position. And it'll stay in there, which means you're ready to go. Just put your cover on and put your cover back on. You're all set to tow. Now all you have to do, usually, what you'll wanna do is make this gauge pointing towards the rear, so it's visible to see it when you hook up. But what you'll do is just simply hook up the trailer to the gooseneck ball just as you would any other gooseneck hitch. And then what happens is the weight of the trailer's gonna push down on the gooseneck ball, which in turn pushes down on an internal hydraulic piston that'll sit on a bed of oil. When that piston drops into the oil, then the pressure reading is sent out to the scale to tell you your tongue weight. And then the last thing you wanna do is they include these safety chain anchors. These you do one install into two rearmost pucks. And the way you install 'em that's pretty nice is you'll start off like this, and then you'll drop these tabs into the pucks in the OE system. When they drop in, you'll just rotate this clockwise. And when you do that, it locks it into place. And now you have your opening for your safety chains to go through. Same way on this one. You'll drop it into place, rotate it, and you hear it lock, it's spring loaded. Now you're ready to go. And it keeps them from twisting. And then when you're not using this, this rubber cover can go into the ball hole to keep any dirt or grind from getting into it. And then the last thing I just wanted to show you is we talked about this hard plastic carrying case keeps everything all together, and doesn't let it get damaged. So what I want to show you, it's pretty unique. You just open it up, drop it down, you'll be able to see how it has spots for everything to go. So that's pretty nice. Keeps everything from hitting each other. So what you're first gonna do is take the, and that'll lay right in here, and then you'll put your rubber cover right there. So it's really nice is it keeps that gauge from getting hit or damaged, gives you an accurate reading, and then you just take your anchors, drop them into those places right there. And in your keys, there's a little hole there, you can drop those in. And then just close your case, slide these to lock it. And just like that, you're ready to go. Carry everything in here altogether, and keep it from hitting each other and damaging. But that should do it for a look at the Weigh Safe Safe Load OEM Gooseneck Ball Hitch.

I wanted to reach out to let you know the WS84ZR Weigh Safe Load Ball Kit Hard-sided case came broken and all taped up. Not sure why you would send out a product like this.
Well I have not used it yet and I would like to give it 5 stars as is very well made and extremely heavy duty. But when I opened the package today and took it out of the case the needle on the scale is at the 1200 lb mark. As I said, I haven’t even put it in the hitch yet. So, if there is a way to maybe relieve the pressure on it that information would be greatly appreciated.
Haven’t used a ton, but excellent quality, would only critique how tall the hitch is as a whole, we had issues with our gooseneck sitting front high with this hitch.
The Weigh Safe Load Ball is a scam, it worked like for a couple of weeks then after that the weight was no longer registering. The anchors got all bent up and had to pry them out of the locked positions to put more heavier duty capable anchors in their place. Not a good product, concept makes sense but the product itself is not ready for HD applications even if it rated at 30K. Now my trailer sits higher than normal because the extra space for the scale on the hitch that does NOT work. About to remove and replace with standard 30k hitch.
Love it. Takes guess work out of loading a trailer.
Packaging was a challenge, case showed up with damage. Fitment is good, and everything works as it should. I do love the fact I have a scale to ensure I am not overloading my truck or trailer, and positioning of equipment is good. The ball itself does not seem to hold in the anchored position very tightly. I notice a lot of movement of the trailer on the ball. Have not determined if this is the ball moving within the factory hitch or if it is the trailer moving on the ball. There is audible movement when braking or accelerating when using. It is concerning when hearing the “bang” coming from the bed when towing. I tow a 9,500 skid steer and it’s always in the back of my mind if this gooseneck ball is going to sheer off and allow the trailer to be free floating in my bed. My factory gooseneck ball does not have any movement in it at all.
This place is Awesome!!!
Havent opened the package yet but great website, shipping, customer service and follow up
Great ball easy to get in and out of bed needed the extra height for my gooseneck attachment on my camper would recommend to anyone
The service provided was exceptional, offering the most effective tracking for comprehensive awareness that I have ever encountered.
Much of my opinion about this product is top-notch positive, but the ONE negative cancels out everything else. I purchased this for the OEM gooseneck kit on a new 2025 truck with no tow history, so the "socket" in the truck bed was not worn from use. This ball is EXTREMELY sloppy when inserted and locked in place. The "play" and rattle are beyond belief. When connected to an empty gooseneck trailer, the rearward lean of the ball is clearly visible with the naked eye. I can't fathom why Weigh-Safe would create such a sloppy-fit product - then sell it at a premium. My opinion of the company has tanked completely!

Walton, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this, and I can understand why that amount of movement would be concerning, especially on a brand new truck. What you’re describing with the play and visible movement is not something you’d expect to see to that degree. While some minimal clearance can exist in gooseneck setups, it definitely shouldn’t feel excessive or create that kind of rattle. We’d want to take a closer look at your setup to help figure out exactly what’s going on. If you’re able to share a photo or a bit more detail on how the ball is sitting in the hitch, that would help us narrow it down and make sure everything is working as it should.

I apologize for the packaging issues! What you’re describing with the clunk under braking is something we do see from time to time with gooseneck setups, especially when there’s just a little bit of clearance between the ball and coupler. That forward and back movement can definitely translate into that “bang” you’re hearing. Since you mentioned your factory ball doesn’t have that same movement, I’d start by comparing how this one is seating in the hitch and how the coupler fits on it. A couple simple things that can help are making sure the ball is well greased and double checking your trailer brake settings so the trailer isn’t pushing as much during stops. It’s also worth taking a look at the coupler itself to make sure everything is tight and not worn, since even a small amount of extra space there can amplify the noise. If you’d like, feel free to share a photo of how everything is hooked up and we can take a closer look with you to help narrow it down and get you some peace of mind while towing.
