Is The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Compatible With A 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE

Hello, We have a 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE and we are interested in the Redarc Tow Pro Elite but it is not listed as a brake controller that fits our vehicle. Could you let me know why it is not listed? Thanks

Hey Pete,

The Redarc Tow-Pro elite is compatible with your 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE, it's just a bit overkill for your vehicle so that's likely why it's not listed. If you're not running a 24v system or doing off-roading then the Liberty # RED52VR covers the rest.

For the Elite you'll need part # RED44FR which will come with a universal splice in wire harness. I also recommend picking up the # RED48FR to mount the control knob without having to drill into the dash to keep a more factory look and make the install faster. You'll need to wire in the brake controller in the following manner:

White - ground to vehicle frame with ring terminal and self-tapping screw

Blue - run to brake controller output pin on 7-way

Black - run to battery with inline circuit breaker # PK54530

Red - run to cold side of the brake light switch

The cold side of the brake light switch is going to be the wire coming off of the brake pedal that only has power when the brake pedal is being depressed. You can look for this wire using a hook & probe tester # PTW2993 to look for this wire. If you can't find it or the wire gauge is too thin to splice into you can install a stop light switch kit # RM-751000 and run its output to the red wire instead.
