Hello Robert. The best way to do this is to wire the semi truck with its own separate 7-way flat connector. For that you can use the Tekonsha # 119250KIT and the Universal Install Kit # ETBC7. This will include all of the components needed to wire the 7-way, including all of the necessary wires for an electric trailer brake controller. For a controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 #90195.
The # ETBC7 kit comes with 25' of wire, for a semi you may need additional wire, and for that we sell wire by the foot with part # 10-2-1.
