Should I Use The Tire Pressure Recommended By The Tire Manufacturer or RV Manufacturer?

Question:
Tire pressure question for tire expert. I have a 2021 Reflection by Grand design FIFTH WHEEL 280 RS. The sticker on side of trailer says to inflate tires to 80 psi which is what I used on my old Goodyear tires E rated 10 ply which also had 80 psi as maximum pressure listed on side of tire. I replaced these Goodyear tires with Hercules H-901 tires F rated 12 ply which have a listed max pressure of 95 psi. Do I use 80 psi as called for on trailer or 95 psi as shown as max trailer on tire ? Tire store says to use 95 psi because otherwise it will be under inflated. I think it should be 80 psi as shown on trailer sticker I don’t know if rim can handle 95 psi. Tire size is ST225/75R15. Many “experts” say that trailer tires should always be inflated to maximum shown on tire. Should I use 80 or 95 psi ?

Expert Reply:
You will need to inflate your Hercules tires to 95 psi as stated on the tire. Grand Design put the information on their information sticker based on the tires they installed. With changing to the higher capacity tire which requires more pressure you will need to go with the tire manufacturers recommended tire pressure. Typically a trailer wheel will not have a maximum pressure rating. The tire and valve stem are going to be the parts which are limited on tire pressures. The installer who installed your tires should have ensured your valve stems are rated for use with the tires and replaced if they were not capable of holding the pressure required.
