Question:

What is the best Sumo Springs or Timbren product for the following: 2022 Ram 2500, Longhorn, Cummins truck, 4x4 package with Bilstein shocks. Pulls a 31foot travel trailer in the 8,500 lb range loaded. We may upgrade to larger RV in near future that may be up to 2,000 lbs heavier. Note we picked the Ram over the Ford because my wife has back problems and the unloaded ride of the Ram was much better. Loaded, they are about the same but, with better payload in the Fords favor. Truck does not squat much or have any problems with current trailer except on the pavement in SD where they have cut slits across the road and the truck starts to porpoise up and down over that road. And, if we upgrade trailers I will top out the Rams rather low payload rating 2,165. Oh, I have an 40 gal axillary diesel tank in the Ram that eats up payload. So, purpose of the SS or Timbrens would be to lessen the porpoising and possibly give less squat if we upgrade RVs. Does the rebel fit on this truck with the coil spring rear of the Ram? Which product would not reduce unloaded ride quality. Which, if any, would reduce porpoiseing if I spelt it right? All the installation videos show trucks with leaf springs. Thanks

The best choice for your 2022 Ram 2500 are the SumoSprings. Both would help with porpoising front to back, but since you are concerned with ride quality the # SS64VR is going to keep the impact on ride quality at a minimum.

I've heard a lot about South Dakota interstates, and you definitely don't want something that is a chunk of rubber like the Timbren absorbing the shock. The SumoSprings Rebel # SS64VR will give you a much better experience. Also, they won't have any issues installing with the coil springs. The 2-piece design will allow for unlimited suspension travel and it sounds like 3,000 lbs will be enough for the capacity. If you think you need a higher capacity the # SS27GR will also fit and has a weight capacity of 5,000 lbs.

Another thing you want to do is make sure your trailer is loaded correctly. You want the weight to be properly distributed, with 10-15% of the loaded weight as the tongue weight. If you don't have enough tongue weight it can lead to porpoising.

If you don't already have one, you may want to consider a weight distribution hitch like the # EQ37100ET. This will help with sway and porpoising as well. You want to choose a system based on your loaded tongue weight. Ideally it will fall into the middle of the range of the WDH. This Equal-i-zer has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs.
