Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 1,500-lb Rear Suspension Support

Heavy loads can make your rear end sag, throwing off steering and headlight aim. These SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs add up to 1,500 lbs of rear axle support at 50-percent compression to keep your vehicle level and stable. The microcellular urethane springs absorb bumps and cushion shocks so you stay in control when towing or hauling a heavy load.

Smooth Ride No Matter the Weight: Progressive Load Control

Every load feels different, and these springs adjust to match. With lighter loads, they compress easily for soft engagement and a comfortable ride. As weight increases, they can compress by as much as 80 percent to add firm support that evens out your stance and keeps things steady. The progressive design means you get smooth comfort when empty and solid stability when loaded.

Comparison image showing SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on a truck rear axle, with one spring uncompressed and the other compressed to demonstrate load support performance.

Reduce Sway and Bounce: Independent Spring Action

When rough roads or sharp turns try to push you around, these springs work independently on each side to keep your ride balanced. The separate action helps correct off-center loads, cuts down body roll in corners, and minimizes sway when hauling gear or towing down the highway.

Built to Handle Real-World Conditions: Durable Microcellular Urethane

These helper springs are made from tough microcellular urethane that resists oils, road salts, and UV rays. They perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F without cracking or deforming. Because they compress vertically with minimal side expansion, they fit safely into tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts—and there’s zero maintenance required since there’s no tubing or air pressure to monitor.

Install It Yourself Without Drilling: Simple Bolt-On Setup

Adding rear suspension support shouldn’t be a big project. These jounce-style helper springs mount easily with no drilling required, using straightforward brackets and hardware. You get two custom-fit springs ready to bolt in and hit the road with stronger, steadier suspension from day one.

I had them on truck about a month before towing. Only time I noticed a rough ride empty was going over speed bumps or rough RR crossing. There is a small gap when empty. While towing I really like the Sumo Springs. The trailer did great and towed smooth. Etrailer had fast shipping.

2024 Ram 2500
I had these on a previous 2016 RAM 2500. Wanted to get them again. It appears that they have changed the bracket and now if installed per the instructions, the spacer is no longer "optional". I had 2 choices mount per the instructions and cut off about 3/4 - 1" off the spring or simply eliminate the bracket that holds the unit to the frame and only use the spring holder, with one bolt ( the provided flat allen head, screwed into rear mounting nut)... I chose the second. We'll see how it works. I can always cut the rubber.

Nice product, easy to install. I haven’t put under a load yet but seems good in normal driving.

This product is a excellent addition to my 2018 ram 2500 when I hook up my reflection 280rs fifth wheel the truck squats less than a inch with the factory coil rear springs and the ride is smooth and no jerking

Excellent products and service from ETrailer. Received the sumo springs for my 2018 Ram 2500 from etrailer and immediately put them to use. Install took about an hour with basic hand tools. Thanks again

My initial rating is 5 stars. I did give this to a professional shop to have them installed, and they remarked that it was quite easy even for them. I have not put a heavy load on the truck yet...or towed my RV as yet, but will be very happy if the bounce is gone.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

2000 Nissan Leaf
Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.

  • Would Timbrens or SumoSprings Work Best on a 2018 Ram 3500 4WD?
Hi Tim, That's a great question! While Timbrens and SumoSprings are both suspension enhancements, they perform differently depending on how much weight you're towing/hauling and how often you're planning on towing/hauling. The only Timbren kits we have fitted to your 2018 Ram 3500 are severe service kits rated for 8,000lbs of load support, like part # T94VR. The severe service kits should only be used on vehicles with a slide-in camper, salt spreader, mounted crane, or other aerial...

  • SumoSprings vs. Timbren for Full-Timing with a Travel Trailer
Hey Alessandro! Based on your setup and measurements, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-312-54 for your 2024 Ram 2500 4x4 and Jayco Eagle HT 312BHOK travel trailer setup over the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-312-47. With the truck dropping about 3-1/2" at the rear with weight distribution and the heavier tongue weight of the travel trailer, the additional support of the # SSR-312-54 is going to give you the best setup, especially with you being...

  • Will SumoSprings Kit SSR-312-47 Reduce Suspension Travel
Hey Manuel, the SumoSpring kit part # SSR-312-47 does not affect off road suspension travel since it only attaches to one side of your vehicle. This means that there's nothing that tries to prevent the travel from extending beyond a certain point.

  • How To Decide Between SumoSprings And Rebel Version Of Suspension Upgrades For Less Sag 2024 Ram
Hey Bill! The Rebel is the heavier duty SumoSprings jounce springs and they have the higher weight rating at 3,000 lbs # SS64VR or 5,000 lbs # SS27GR. I usually only recommend these heavy duty versions if you have a lot of weight in the truck bed or on the hitch at all times, such as a truck bed camper that is in there nearly year-round. You will notice a harsher ride even when unloaded as these make contact with the frame at all times. Assuming you use your truck like I do, which is...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2024 Toyota Tundra SR5 CrewMax TRD Sport
Hey Chad! Adding SumoSprings like the # SSR-312-47 will reduce that rear sag and let you tow/haul level. They're also really nice because the impact on unloaded ride quality is minimal if you even notice at all. The only real con is that they lack adjustability, but on the flip side they require no maintenance. They're a good all around option for situations like yours. The right set depends on what you're doing. Since you tow a pop up camper I would say the tongue weight is probably...

  • Options For Smoothing Out The Ride While Towing With A 2015 Ram 2500
Hi Gary! I can definitely help smooth out your ride while towing and unloaded. To do this on your 2015 Ram 2500, there are going to be two main options; bump stops, and air bags. On the bump stop side of things, I recommend SumoSprings over Timbren. Timbren options are going to be on the heavy duty side of things and they work really well for people that tow full time, but they will be harsh for people that don't. With that said, I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs...

With the SumoSprings you have several options with different weight ratings. 1,500LB # SSR-312-47 2,800LB # SSR-312-54 3,000LB # SS64VR 5,000LB # SS27GR The heavier capacity will cause your rear end to sag less but do understand the higher capacity will...

  • Best SumoSprings Kit for Towing a 5th Wheel with a 2020 Ram 2500
Hey Joe, thanks for reaching out! The only real difference (aside from color) for the SumoSprings Kit # SSR-312-47 and Kit # SSR-312-54 is that the former is rated to help with 1,500 lbs while the latter is rated to help with 2,800 lbs. The 1,500 lb kit will work just fine if your hitch (pin) weight doesn't go over 1,280 lbs, but in your case it wouldn't hurt to get the 2,800 lb kit because that will also help alleviate any sag if you load some cargo up in the bed to haul. • Comparing Timbren and SumoSprings Suspension Enhancement For 2022 Ram 2500
The SumoSprings are definitely the best choice for your 2022 Ram 2500. The Timbren will give you a rough ride when unloaded while SumoSprings have a minimal impact on unloaded ride quality. Also, the # TDRTT3500E is a severe service kit. The only reason to add this would be if you're using a slide-in camper or salt spreader. The correct SumoSprings kit will depend on your application.
