Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 5,000-lb Rear Suspension Support

Heavy trailers, campers, or full beds can make the rear end sag and throw off handling. These SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs add up to 5,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep things level and steady. They help your factory suspension handle weight so steering, braking, and headlight aim stay where they should while towing or hauling. The progressive design means lighter loads compress easily for a soft, comfortable ride, while heavier loads get firmer support that keeps the truck from squatting.

Smooth Ride on Rough Roads: 2-Piece Design with Unlimited Suspension Travel

When unloaded or on uneven terrain, the 2-piece design lets your suspension move freely for a smoother ride. Each spring mounts separately to the frame and axle, connecting only when the rear starts to sag under load. That separation means no harshness when empty but solid support when you need it. The closed-cell urethane material acts like a shock absorber, soaking up vibration and bumps so your ride stays comfortable whether you’re towing or driving unloaded.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

Sharp turns and uneven loads can cause body roll that throws off stability. These helper springs work independently on each side to balance off-center loads and reduce sway through corners or crosswinds. Whether you’re hauling a camper or towing a trailer on mountain roads, the truck feels planted and controlled instead of rolling side to side.

Count on Toughness That Doesn’t Quit: Durable Microcellular Urethane

Built from microcellular urethane, these springs are designed for real-world use in all conditions. They resist damage from oil, road salt, and UV rays and perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. Minimal lateral expansion keeps them from rubbing nearby parts even in tight spaces. And because they’re maintenance-free with no air lines or compressors to monitor, once they’re bolted on you can forget about upkeep and focus on driving.

Simple Installation with Custom Brackets: Bolt-On Fit That Just Works

The Rebel kit comes ready with custom-fit brackets for an easy bolt-on install using standard tools. There’s no tubing to run or air pressure to set—just solid hardware that fits cleanly into place. Once installed, you’ve got lasting rear suspension support that levels loads, cuts sway, and keeps your truck riding smooth trip after trip.

Very easy install and product worked great. Helped most with leveling my truck while loaded with my camper. Body roll was still there but these definitely reduced it. Would definitely recommend this product.

by:

nice improvement when 5th wheel is hooked up. maybe half inch ride height improvement. bumps and potholes are dampened nicely, not eliminated but not harsh and smoothed as should be.

by:

The installation went very well. The ride seemed smooth.

by:

I haven't had the springs under load, yet. I'm sure they'll perform as expected. I was not able to adjust the driver's side springs so that they align correctly. (see pic). The bottom spring does go into the top spring, but it's off enough that over time it will be an issue. Passenger side is spot-on! I have a 2024 F350 Tremor

by:

took about 2 1/2 hours to put them on. Love them!! Trailer sits level and truck still has it's proper angle to the road!

by:

With the new Sumo Springs my Sprinter is an amazing highway cruiser. Drives like a dream! It's a little rough on potholes, but overall a great purchase.

by:

Ride is great unloaded. They don’t touch until you load the truck with a little weight. On a light trailer 16ft or 20ft car hauler they just touch. The ride may be a little stiffer in the rear since there isn’t much weight to keep them down or the bounce down. But it’s not bad at all. Hauling a heavy load where they get compressed the load is much more stable and the truck hauls the heavy loads MUCH better. Cheaper than air ride. No lines to run. No worry to inflate or deflate. I give them 10/10. Very nice product. If you run light loads more than heavy I would go with the blue or yellow versions. I have the 5k sumos on a 2018 Ram 3500 4x4

100% satisfied.

by:

Still too new for me to review how the product works, but in terms of installation, I had a lot of issues with installation on my 2015 Ford F150. Everything I saw made it sound easy for self install by one person, but was pretty tough self install for me. I'm not an expert on vehicles, but generally pretty handy and I had trouble doing it by myself and took at lot of time.

Difficult parts were attaching the upper mounting bracket to the frame, and getting the bolt through a washer and into a mounting piece that I had to insert into the frame

Couple of notes. My truck is a 4x4 and the instructions said to mount the upper bracket in the bottom holes for 4x4's, but that was not possible as it wouldn't fit. After talking to manufacturer, they said it was ok to mount in the the upper holes that was supposed to be for 2wd models.

The instructions don't mention using lock tight on all nuts, but I had one the the sides come off and lost some pieces. After getting a warranty replacement, the manufacturer said to use lock tight, even though it wasn't noted on instructions man. They said in newer instructions, it adds that, but that wasn't included in the product I received

Hoping I will like the ride when I connect and use on my trailer and will reserve judgement till then

by:

I wish I would have put on an air ride system instead. When I put my light (1750lb.)truck camper on my F250 truck, the back of the truck saggs. Not happy! I am sure the product is okay, just not what I wanted.

by:

It’s a fantastic product and shipping was right on time. Thank you so much etrailer.

by:

Just Installed my Sumo Rear Springs. They went in real easy on my Dodge Ram 3500. The thing that took the most time on the install was jacking up the frame 3-4" to make enough space between the axle base and top of frame to slip in the entire lower and top sections of the Sumo Springs. Once I did that, I narrowed that space by letting the frame down a little but not all the way. Just enough to catch the receiving spring and leaving a half inch gap between the two sections. This allowed me to easily rachet the bottom u-clap without a problem and keep good alighment. I know I'm going to love this product once I hitch up. No more 2' drop in the rear end once hooking up to my 15k 5th wheel. These springs are stout but no so stout I'll beat the hell out of my body when hunting the rutted roads of the great North West. Thank you Jessie for your expertise and steering me toward the perfect application to meet my pulling and off-road needs.

by:

I put a small leveling kit in my 2500hd Silverado. I noticed afterwards towing my excavator or dump trailer I was getting some rear sag when I had my trailers loaded heavy. I considered doing air bags for the rear. Instead I installed the sumo springs. I installed them in about an hour. Very happy with them. No noticeable difference in ride quality while empty. And they keep my truck level when I’m hauling my trailers. 5 stars!

by:

Product works very well. Only problem we had was an alignment problem on the drivers side spring. Couldn't get it completely centered top to bottom, but was close enough to still fit together.

by:

I installed on 24 Silverado 2500hd. Install went great. They work well when towing. I haul a 32’ bumper pull camper. They help reduce the sag dramatically. When not hauling, the truck rides rougher than without them installed. That makes sense and I am happy with them. I may have went with a bit less stiffness now that I know.

by:

Easy install

by:

Pretty straight forward install. Easy to do

by:

They worked out great with my camper, it only sit down 1 inch with my camper on it.

by:

Great option for lifted off road trucks

by:

Huge difference while towing 5th wheel. Keeps truck level and greatly improved stability. They work and easy install.

by:

My driver said the ride in his truck improved dramatically with a loaded gooseneck trailer, we'll definitely be getting these for all of our trucks this winter

by:

Went on easy, good instructions. Have this same brand on our rv

by:

Do not work as advertised. Truck rode absolutely terrible after install

by:

My ram deisel would squat an inch and a half in the back when i hooked my empty gooseneck to it. After installing Summo springs it only lowers 1 1/4 inches with a 7ton load. More stability with the truck level and wieght on steering axle. More lateral stability for the dips in the road. A must for any one hauling heavy with s 3/4 ton truck

by:

I installed the drivers side today on my 2020 Ram 2500 with factory air bags…. I installed this as per design but it’s not lining up due to the provided offset in the lower bracket as well as the offset inability in the top bracket…. As well, even if the top bracket had the adjustment side to side that I would need to get the top and bottom to line up, the load level sensor that comes factory would be in the way for the top bracket to move sideways (towards the wheel) to make alignment true…. If you could please review my pictures and let me know if the offset will be a problem before I install the passenger side, I would greatly appreciate it…. Thanks in advance…

Hey Spencer. I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with the install. I did some digging into this and found that you may be able to shift the upper bumper brackets a bit and use different holes in the frame to shift it over a bit. I will say though, these are know to not always lined up perfectly and your vehicle may be one of these cases. If you still unhappy with the fitment, let me know, I'd be happy to help.

@GwendolynY Hi Gwendolyn, Thanks for the response…. The pictures I sent are with the truck still being held up by the floor jack a little ways and when fully let off the top bumper and the bottom bumper mated together thus not allowing for any space between them which would create an extremely rigid ride…. This application is not going to work for my vehicle and would just like an address to ship back to for a refund…. I only installed the driver side and took it back off after realizing it will not work…. So the left side was never installed at all…. Thanks in advance Spencer

  • Best Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2020 Ram 2500 4WD With In-Bed Gooseneck Hitch
Hey Kim, thanks for reaching out. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags with Easy Mount Compressor # F24XV do fit your 2020 Ram 2500 with rear coil springs, but the hang-up is the under-bed gooseneck hitch. On your truck, the air bag brackets and the under-bed gooseneck hardware occupy the same mounting points on the frame, so unfortunately, they won’t coexist on that setup. Because of that interference, the # F24XV isn’t going to be a workable option with the in-bed gooseneck installed. If...

  • How To Decide Between SumoSprings And Rebel Version Of Suspension Upgrades For Less Sag 2024 Ram
Hey Bill! The Rebel is the heavier duty SumoSprings jounce springs and they have the higher weight rating at 3,000 lbs # SS64VR or 5,000 lbs # SS27GR. I usually only recommend these heavy duty versions if you have a lot of weight in the truck bed or on the hitch at all times, such as a truck bed camper that is in there nearly year-round. You will notice a harsher ride even when unloaded as these make contact with the frame at all times. Assuming you use your truck like I do, which is...

  • Will Air Lift Air Helper Springs Fit A 2020 Ram 2500 With Factory Air Ride Suspension
Hey Spencer, The Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL57589 would mount in the same space as the factory air springs so you wouldn't be able to use both. You can swap out the factory air springs with the # AL57589 if you wanted to though. If you're wanting something in addition to the factory air springs you can go with a jounce spring like the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS27GR. Is sag your only issue or are you facing any handling issues as well?

  • Upgrades to Reduce Sway on 2014 Ram 2500 Longhorn Limited With Truck Bed Camper
Hey Howard! Are you experiencing sway all over in the truck or primarily at the rear? Do you have the 4WD model? The Hellwig Front Anti-Sway Bar # HE55GR you were looking at is designed for the 4WD and will help, but primarily with the front. If you're getting sway in the rear still I recommend adding the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS27GR (also designed for 4WD models). These act more like air bags so they will add extra support and work independently to reduce side to...

  • Are Air Bag Helper Springs Or SumoSprings a Better Option For a 2022 Ram 2500?
The main benefit of the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2598 is you can easily adjust the air pressure in the springs using a Compressor System # AL74000 to not only level your 2022 Ram 2500 but also dial in the ride quality. With the SumoSprings you have several options with different weight ratings. 1,500LB # SSR-312-47 2,800LB # SSR-312-54 3,000LB # SS64VR 5,000LB # SS27GR The heavier capacity will cause your rear end to sag less but do understand the higher capacity will...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2024 Ram 2500 Towing Trailer and Excavator
Hi Randall; since ride quality is a concern I would stay away from the Timbren. However, depending on your tongue weight/pin weight the # SSR-312-54 may be at their limit so as you said a stouter option would be better. The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS27GR (fits 4WD models only) have a 5,000 lb capacity which would be more than enough. These are the best option if you want something you don't have to maintain. If you want my overall recommendation it would be the Firestone...

  • Will SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs Reduce 2019 Ram 2500 Rear Sag While Towing
Hey John! The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS27GR will definitely help with the rear sag on your 2019 Ram 2500. However, I wouldn't expect to see a large difference with only 1" - 1-1/2" of sag in the rear. The SumoSprings do have a small gap so they aren't always engaged (this helps keep the impact on ride quality minimal). I have no doubt that they will improve your ride quality while towing so it is definitely worth the upgrade I just don't want you thinking you slap these...

Out of all the options that we have this will hands down give you the smoothest ride. The 2-Piece bracket design is intended to help give the smoothest ride possible when the truck is unloaded or on rough roads. Also, the # TDRTT3500E is a severe service kit. The only reason to add this would be if you're using a slide-in camper or salt spreader. The correct SumoSprings kit will depend on your application. The Timbren is 6-3/4" tall and the SumoSprings are approximately 7" tall with the brackets. Since these install in the same space there won't be much difference between the two when it comes to the fit.
