How To Decide Between SumoSprings And Rebel Version Of Suspension Upgrades For Less Sag 2024 Ram

Updated 02/16/2026 | Published 02/11/2026

Question:

Im trying to decide between either the SumoSprings or the SumoSprings Rebel. I have a 2024 2500 RAM 4x4 6.5 bed and I carry an 1800 lb slide in camper 50 of the time with some overland travel. The truck sags under this load and changes the pitch of the head lights etc. Price is not an issue, although I dont wont to overbuy if not necessary. Thanks, Bill

Hey Bill!

The Rebel is the heavier duty SumoSprings jounce springs and they have the higher weight rating at 3,000 lbs # SS64VR or 5,000 lbs # SS27GR. I usually only recommend these heavy duty versions if you have a lot of weight in the truck bed or on the hitch at all times, such as a truck bed camper that is in there nearly year-round. You will notice a harsher ride even when unloaded as these make contact with the frame at all times.

Assuming you use your truck like I do, which is to pull a trailer and haul some heavy items every now and then, but still like a factory, comfortable ride when unloaded, I'd go with the standard 1,500 lb option # SSR-312-47. I actually have this exact setup on my Nissan Titan and I like it a lot. You won't notice it when unloaded, but it's there to prevent sag and body roll when loaded down.

Let me know what you think, or what you will be hauling with it!
