I have an old boat trailer that needs a new hub and bearings.I am thinking that AKIHUB-440 -2-G-2K would work. The spindle ,which has a one inch diameter, is 41/4 inches long including the the threads which are one inch long. Is this spindle long enough to accommodate the hub in the package mentioned above

It sounds like you are needing the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K for your trailer. This hub fits the BT8 Spindle # TRU59FR which is 1" in diameter and has a length of 4-1/4" long from the inner bearing landing to the end of the threads.
The Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-440-2-G-2K you found fits a BTR Spindle # TRU44FR which has a diameter of 1.063" for the hub bearings.
