Hi, Please confirm that EcoHitch – EH97FR will provide highest ground clearance on 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime when compared with other Class III hitches. What options are available for additional rust protection since the hitch will be used in shore areas where metal tends to rust quickly? I plan to tow a 2,200 trailer which is close to 2,500 vehicle’s towing limit. Is there a weight distribution system or other options available for reducing stress on the vehicle? Can you also recommend a wiring harness that will support trailer brakes for 2022 RAV4 Prime? Thank you

That is correct, the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH97FR has the most ground clearance when compared to other Class III hitches for your 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime. For rust protection I recommend inspecting the hitch periodically and use rust-inhibiting spray paint from your local hardware store to touch up any scratches in the finish. Unfortunately, none of the hitches for your vehicle can be used with weight distribution.

For 7-way wiring you will need to start by adding a 4-way. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56434 will plug into existing wiring and provide you with a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights. From there, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you need to add a 7-way to your vehicle.

Since you have brakes you will also need a brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. The main unit for this brake controller mounts behind the dash so only the knob is visible in your vehicle. The knob controls the braking power as well as the manual override. The # RED69FR will also be necessary for installation.

Although there is no suspension enhancement made specifically for your vehicle, you may be able to use the Air Lift 1000 Universal Air Spring Kit like the # AL60917. To find the correct fit you will need to measure. First, unload your vehicle to make sure it's at normal ride height. Then, measure the inside height of your coil spring, which will be from the upper spring seat to the lower spring seat. Lastly, measure the inside diameter of the spring at its widest point. Once you have these measurements you can use the attached table to see if there is a kit that fits.

In order to complete your setup you will also need a ball mount. Check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
