WDS Shank Needed For 2-1/2" Hitch On A 2022 Ford F-250 4X4 That Sits Too High
Published 04/14/2022 >
Question:
I currently have a 2"-1/2" shank with my Fastway e2 trunnion hitch. I purchased a 2022 F250 4x4 stock. It appears my trailer is sitting too high on the truck. Would a 3 inch with a 2-1/2 shank work best for me if I plan to put air bags on in the future? I measure almost 22 inches from the flat ground to the top of my receiver. If I measured right my ball currently sits at almost 24 and my trailer to flat ground was almost 20. I’m almost thinking a 4 inch would be best but don’t want to be too low to the ground. I’m also not confident with my measurements to the ground as it’s hard to find flat ground here.

The ground you're measuring on will likely never be perfectly level, but you'll need to try to find some ground that is as level as possible. I have included a FAQ for you to check out that will assist in measuring for your rise and drop.
If your trailer is sitting too high, then you're right, you need more drop from your shank.
Since you said you measured 22" from the ground to the receiver, and 20" from the ground to the trailer, you'll be needing a WDS shank that has at least 2" of drop.
I recommend using the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4800, which has 4" of drop, 8" of rise, and will fit into a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" trailer hitch receiver.
You should have enough wiggle room to accommodate for air bags should you decide to get some in the future, and will alleviate the issue you're experiencing.
