Troubleshooting Sway Issues on a 33 ft Trailer With the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System
Published 04/12/2012 >
Question:
I have this system and I have recently purchased a 5340lb travel trailer to pull with my 2008 GMC Yukon XL 7000lb tow capacity. I experienced, in my opinion, quite a bit of sway, especially when trucks pass me. Can I, should I? add 1 or even 2 sway controllers? If so, how would I add them to my existing hitch? The trailer is 33ft long. Thank you.

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System, # FA94-00-0800, has a built in sway control system and will not support additional sway control systems.
A few things that you can check to help with sway issues is to make sure the tongue weight of your trailer is about 10 to 15 percent of your gross trailer weight by adding more weight to the front of the trailer. Too much weight at the back of the trailer can cause trailer sway as well.
You could also raise the L-brackets or add washers to the rivets to angle the head away from the tow vehicle and provide more tension on the spring bars.
