What Can I Do to Minimize Bucking in My 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 With Hawk Pop-Up Camper
Updated 10/19/2021 | Published 10/17/2021 >
Question:
We have a 2020 Ram 2500 gasser. We recently installed a Hawk pup-up camper 1500 lbs with a 7-foot aluminum Norweld flatbed a bit heavier than the stock bed, and the vehicle can buck/lurch a bit not terribly, but it is a bit unnerving when driving into a headwind or on uneven pavement. Otherwise, the truck does not sag or sway, and handles the load well, even on rutted dirt roads which it does very well. We have the standard factory lift/tires and optional off-roadfoot suspension with Bilstein shocks. We did have a Hellweg sway bar installed as part of the build Do you have a product that may address our situation? Ive attached a photo of the rear - already loaded - coil springs if that helps. Note that the bottom of the tape measure goes to a bracket that is welded onto the axle. The bottom of the coil spring, to the right, rests on a similar bracket that is also welded to the axle. The top of both brackets appears to be the same. The flatbed and camper are full-time on the truck.

The product I recommend to help with the bucking/lurching issue with your 2020 Dodge Ram 2500 is the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TDRTT3500E.The Timbrens install in place of the factory bump stops shown in your picture. They'll engage a lot sooner than the bump stops supporting your suspension to help reduce the bucking you're experiencing.. These springs work independently of each other and will improve your stability on uneven roads.
I have linked a video to the installation video on a Ram 2500, note that they remove the bumper stop that you detailed in your picture.
