e28JR this part is described as magnetic? How so? is the while thing a magnet? what purpose does this serve?

The etrailer Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # e28JR is indeed magnetic. Now the whole thing is not magnetic, there are simply two magnets built in to the bottom of the adapter. See the picture below. We chose to add magnets as a convenience/ease of use factor. The purpose of the magnets is to eliminate any unnecessary movement when installing and removing the adapter. It also helps to keep the adapter in place when you are installing your hitch accessories, as opposed to the adapter sliding freely in the hitch.
