Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

Video Transcript for Review of SuperSprings Intl Vehicle Suspension - Rear Axle Suspension Enhancement - SS46PV

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our SumoSprings custom helper springs for the rear axle. Now folks, these are a custom fit application, so I want you to double check the fit guide here at etrailer.com on our homepage. Where it says my vehicle information, enter things like year, make, and model, bed length, those kind of things, cab style. Make sure you're getting the right parts the first time.

Keep in mind, sometimes these videos could be outdated and they could potentially fit newer vehicle years. Now getting into it, these helper springs are gonna be a great addition to your vehicle's rear suspension for improving driver control and comfort. So if you're the kind of guy or gal or whatnot, and you're hauling a trailer camper and you're getting some squat in the back end maybe, these are gonna help you get back to a nice ride height and give you an overall better quality ride. Now, they are rated at 1400 pounds, weight capacity at 50% compression. And one thing to point out from the get-go here is that any kind of spring enhancement to your suspension system is just that, a helper or an enhancement.

It's never going to add or increase the overall capacity of your vehicle's suspension. So if your truck, let's say, is rated for 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight capacity, it's never gonna be more than that. I mean, it's just not. So the manufacturer ratings are what they are. These products just help that, and they do a great job at helping that.

So these are gonna be progressive load control, meaning they're gonna compress according to the weight of the cargo you're carrying. So if it's a light load, maybe they compress a little bit, and a soft engagement and give you a less bumpy ride. But on that heavier load, maybe a full camper whatnot, they'll compress up to 80% and they're gonna absorb, you know, those kind of things, bigger bumps and whatnot, and give you that same feeling from lighter to heavier. So they do a great job, and they work independently, so side to side, let's say you had maybe an off center load such as, I don't know, a thing of a mulch and one side for whatever reason, just a little heavier, or maybe a in-bed camper, that kind of thing. And one side of that camper weighs a couple of hundred pounds more than the other side.

These are gonna work independently and give you a nice even ride. They're made of a durable microcellular urethane, and they work impressively up to negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit, all the way up to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, these are built to resist damage from oils, road salts, UV rays, those kind of things. They're maintenance-free, there's no tubing to run, like in airbags, those kind of things. And it's a simple no-drill installation. Just follow the instructions included and you should have no trouble installing these. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our quick look together today. I'm Steven. Thanks for watching.

If your at all a DIY person you'll have no problem installing these helper springs.
The only reason I don't give them a five star review is that their just installed andvI want to see how they hold up.

Always great customer service and speedy delivery.
SumoSprings easy to install, no issues.

by:

Added 2” spacers on each side so the Sumosprings touch my frame. Relatively easy to install, but centering on the frame was a challenge as the directions tell you to touch the wire harness bracket. I elected to be slightly off center so the bracket did touch to prevent movement and wire damage. Also, once initial installation is performed, you must remove to tighten, which is not in the directions. Overall, the ride has not changed at all and it helps eliminate the drop from my trailer. Highly recommend!

Always the fastest shipping, outstanding customer service and high quality products.

Received very quickly. Exactly what I wanted and ordered. Thank you!!!

by:

Very easy to install and worked well.

by:

Great product, fast shipping!!!!

by:

Good product unfortunately it did not solve my ride issue but not at fault of the helper springs. Just bad engineering by GM. The helper springs were very easy to put on, less than an hour to put both front and rears on.

Package arrived intact only 5 days after ordering. Contents undamaged and well packed. On my new 2024 Toyota Tundra the installation was very simple, straight-forward and easy. In my garage I raised the rear of the truck with a floor jack, gathered my tools and started about 45 minutes after the package arrived. Took me about 20 minutes on the drivers side because I lacked any previous experience with this product. Only took about 10 minutes for the passenger side because I was more comfortable after doing the drivers side. I didn't even have to remove the rear tires. Keep in mind that I am a very mechanically inclined yet 68 year old guy laying on a creeper underneath a wet truck. The mounting brackets are very heavy-duty and thickly painted. Actually heavier duty than the originals. Bolt holes in the brackets were exact matches for my Tundra. After lowering the rear of the truck back down there is still approx. 3/4" clearance ( previous 6" clearance measured at the original factory bump-stops prior to removal) between the bottom of the Sumo helper and the axle rest. This is about the amount of clearance I was hoping for---make contact at about 5-1/2". Leaves me about 3/4" free travel during everyday, unloaded driving. Without the Sumo's my truck sagged 3" with 575 lbs camper tongue weight. Raining outside so I'm not going to hook up my camper just to measure the difference today. However, if it now sags even 1 to 1-1/2" less than before, I'll be a happy camper (pun intended).
I gave this a 5-star rating because I received everything exactly as advertised. Also because I can see how this product will absolutely make my camper-towing experiences much more pleasant and safe. And the Limited Lifetime Warranty certainly was a factor. I usually don't take time to write reviews but I was so impressed with the overall quality of this particular product and the ordering process that I felt I owe them that much as a tip.

by:

Easy to follow instructions. Maybe 45 minutes to install using no power tools. Use an 18" long extension on a deep socket allows you to tight U-bolt nuts without removing the wheels. Otherwise plan on removing the wheels to make your life easier. Also the driver side is the tighter space to work in. Do that side first. Passenger side is super easy and a great way to finish the project.

Haven't towed the camper yet to see if it reduced the squat or not.

by:

Installation was pretty straightforward. The addition of this product did make my truck ride a little stiffer, but not rigid by any streatch. Hooked up the trailer today. Two things that I noticed right away; 1. The truck no longer squats with the trailer attached. 2. The annoying tail sway at highway speed has been greatly reduced.

by:

Since putting these on, it has made an incredible difference in the ride and handling, you do not realize how crappy the stock OEM parts are compared to these.
My 2024 Toyota Sequoia handles fantastic and without the SAG and lean

by:

2023 Tundra SR5 TRD Sport. Install was pretty easy, do take the tires off, makes it a lot easier. Just note that the bolts towards the back of the truck will need to be put in and started prior to the other 2 bolts due to the spring partially covering the hole. See the pics and you can see this. But I did finally tow my 9k camper with these installed and it took out the sag of the truck and the floating side to side was next to zero. And the stuff inside the camper wasn't tossed around near as much as it was without these springs installed.

by:

These springs perform as advertised. They were easy to install on my 21 Bronco and I have not been disappointed. I've pulled a trailer from Texas to Utah multiple times with my Bronco and I have not experienced any squatting. I also haven't noticed any decline in comfort of my ride. I highly recommend if your looking for helper springs for trailering.

by:

I put these on our Bronco Outer Banks to tow our teardrop off road camper. It made a huge difference in the ride and handling. Highly recommended.

by:

The etrailer site helped me dial-in the exact Sumo Springs for our 24 Tundra, and deliver them exactly at the stated day, enabling us to keep our installation appointment with a local mechanic. We’re looking forward to our next trip pulling an Alliance Delta 252 RL. We’ve been using a BluOx load leveling hitch with 1,000 lb bars, that relieve most of the sag already, but looking to be more level with reduced vibration. I’ll update this post after getting some miles in.

Appreciate those videos on the etrailer site - very teachable.

Fixed the sag. No more bottoming out from bumps in the road. Cheaper and less complicated than air. A+ product!

Definitely less moving parts to worry about than airbags :) The install looks great! Are you hitched up in the photo to test out the springs or were you actually on your way to the water?

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement For 2024 Toyota Tundra Crewmax
Hello David, thanks for reaching out. Between the TImbrens and the SumoSprings for your 2024 Toyota Tundra I definitely recommend the Sumos. They have a progressive spring rate so you don't get as rough of a ride when you are unloaded. Since your hitch weight will be about 635 lbs, I recommend the blue Sumos part # SS46PV which are the 1,400 lb capacity. This will give you that nice middle ground between suspension support and ride quality. They are super easy to add on too. Just keep...

  • Do I Want Sumo Springs or Timbrens to Pair with My Weight Distribution Hitch?
Hello Barry, Since you already have a weight distribution (WD) hitch and are only experiencing a little rear sag, I recommend going with SumoSprings. I typically only suggest Timbrens for those who are towing heavy loads regularly, as they can create a noticeably harsh ride when the vehicle is unloaded. Given that the sag is “not much but noticeable,” the SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs Rear Axle # SS46PV (blue) should be a great fit. These are rated for 1,400 lbs, while the yellow...

  • Which SumoSprings Kit Fits 2024 Toyota Tundra with 4 inch Lift
Hey Kirk, for the SumoSprings kit part # SS46PV that fits your 2024 Toyota Tundra you'd need to use the Timbren spacer blocks part # A25723-90AH00 to take up that extra space created by the lift. You'd need 4 of these per side as these are 1 inch spacers.
