As long as you have a 6-1/2 ft bed on your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD the Curt Hitch # C15302 will work for you.

If you have an 8 ft bed you would want a Curt Hitch # C15313.

We have a Curt Class III hitch part #C15312 that fits your 2002 GMC Sierra 3500 with an 8 foot bed but the #C15302 only fits 2500 short bed models so it wouldn't work for you.
