Upgrade 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser w/ 4-Pole to 7-pin Towing Connector for Bluetooth Brake Controller

Updated 11/12/2020 | Published 11/10/2020

Question:

I have a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with a 4 pin flat connector in the back. I am buying a travel trailer with electric brakes on it. I am interested in the blue tooth controllers you have, but what wiring harnesses do I need to buy from you to convert that 4 pin into a 7 pin round so the controller will fit into it? What type of extra wire connections will I need? Do you have a install video for a situation like this? Thanks.

Since you already have trailer lighting through your 4-pole connector, AND you will be using a Bluetooth brake controller, you will only need the etrailer # ETBC7L kit to upgrade from 4-pole to 7-pin connections. Essentially you will only have to mount the new 7-pin connector, plug the 4 pole into the back of it, and run a wire to the battery. I have attached a link to an install video.

For a wireless “plug in” brake controller you will need the Curt # C51180 Wireless Brake Controller. Plug your brake controller into the 7-pin connector, and the trailer into the brake controller and you are ready to go. Enjoy that new trailer!
