Question:
I'm excited to get a 2020 Chevy Traverse but I am wanting to add a trailer hitch and wiring. Can I add the Curt hitch and wiring or is it better to go with the tow package from GM?

I highly recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch # CU29FR and either the 4-Way T-One # 118761 with mounting bracket # 18144 or the 7-Way T-One # 118287 with mounting bracket # PK12711U over the GM tow package for your 2020 Chevy Traverse. Sometimes the factory tow package will include specific things like an additional transmission cooler but from what I could find GM doesn't say that the towing weight ratings for your Traverse are dependent upon their tow package or not. With this being the case, you are better off with the aftermarket option because it is more cost-effective and aftermarket typically lasts longer than OEM parts when it comes to towing equipment.
To complete a towing setup you also need a ball mount kit. I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900 because it includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4” rise/2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise/4” drop, a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You will want to refer to the attached ball mount article to ensure that this kit is correct for your towing application.
I have attached installation videos for both the trailer hitch and wiring on a '19 Traverse that you can check out.
